I mean, I kind of rushed it because I've only been playing for a month and didn't have Christmas or Halloween event decor, and the fishing stuff is the first special set I've had access to.
~ Ramirez
Yes, it does take rather a long time, though there are ways to speed it up, but what's the rush? The game is still years from being finished*, so if you fish up just 10 items a day and buy tablecloths, you'll still get there in a month or so.
Digging is good for trash and for worms
Fishing with the starter rod is a lot better for pulling out trash than the better quality rod, so downgrade if you want those instead of fish.
Traps are good too, but I'd argue the cost of mats for them is just not worth it, but if you are in a rush...
My tavern is quite advanced so I start the day topping up kegs and preparing food...
then sort the animals and crops...
then I'll explore for materials, maybe shop for animal feed...
then I'll head to the beach for the last few hours of the day.
So, far, I think, and without hammering it, I've got the six fish tanks, the diving armour and at least 20 tablecloths.
The tablecloths are great for bedrooms but don't stack comfort points in the dining room. Still, they look good and only cost 10 Wilson coins.

I've now decided to keep all the junk in a chest near my crops, with all the seeds and extra tree sprouts, then I only turn them in at the end of every season/start of every new season. This makes it less tempting to buy little things every time I go to the beach and makes it feel more rewarding every time I turn stuff in, as I get tens of tokens in one go this way. Find ways to make it fun for you, I've made it more fun for me this way, you might find other methods to make it more interesting for you. I also found out you cannot get worms or tree sprouts in the beach when you dig, so I've pretty much stopped digging in other areas as I've had to put a full 99 stack of worms in my crops chest and I rarely use them as they attract a lot of low value fish such as meagre, the most prevalent of all fish... Garbage fish as I call it and it's what I use in the fishing traps because I literally don't think I can run out of meagre at this point!
I'm also going for this achievement as well as the aquarium one right now, they're the only ones I'm missing, so I get your frustration, but just try to play the game without thinking about it too much and you'll get it eventually I think.
Or do what Magden the Tavern Master says and do the bare minimum to get the achievement then reset the day and get items you actually like xD
ya i got it and it only required me to not even bother with the core gameplay, something an achievement should never have you do
tbh I have just been playing the game normally and for the most part didn't really notice the achievements until I saw I almost had all of them, then made my character pass out a bunch of nights in a row to get the insomnia one, purchased my first aquarium to get that, now there's only two left for me to get, one of them being the one you mentioned here.
I'm not really bothered though, like I said, I enjoyed making my aquatic themed room, that's been my endeavour since the fishing update dropped. xD
