construction mode gold costs
title.

will preface by saying i know this is probably just to give you something to spend your gold on, especially if you're making tons of it if you've been playing the game for quite awhile (as it currently, to me at least, seems like the only 'gold sink'.)

however.. as an early game player who still can only keep about 9 gold in their purse, i wish the costs were lower or not there at all. the game has already implied via the tutorial that we're doing all the work ourselves; we're not hiring anyone to build like we are with the coop or barn. on top of supplying all the items ourselves, the additional gold cost seems just a bit much, especially if you're still early game and wanting to expand the tavern to actually *make* more gold. i don't mind gathering the items and making the plants and mortar myself; this is perfectly acceptable. i wouldn't even mind supplying *extra* material just to get rid of the gold cost; make the rooms more expensive with materials that we can go out and farm for.

If you make the two rooms for the tutorial and then take the craft door out and the zoning out and put a rental door on it you have a very nice subsidy to start the game.

If you then invest in a 3rd room as your next heavy investment beyond aging barrels and 4 seat tables, both of which you should be making.... You are well on the way to money not being a concern.

Like ever again. Like ever never ever never like why is there even money in the game ever again....

After you play a couple times and you see what recipes let you forage for everything and how you can make a few things to really get you going you begin to appreciate the challenge. There isn't much of it beyond divining your personal color wheel once you get going.

What that means is that the building costs are pretty balanced all things considered. Would I mind if it was less expensive..? No. Wouldn't mind a perk that got me more of my materials back after having to build half a tavern just to tear it down to move the bar either.... But they aren't super duper expensive. Unless you screw up.

Thankfully time stops now while you look at everything. It's nice to not have to reload the day after screwing up. Again...

Cheers..!

appreciate the advice! i probably will tear down the door and make the crafting room a second inn room; i rarely ever use the space and (to me) it'd be much more worth it to have all crafting objects in one room anyway (that being the room on the first floor). i'm trying to make getting a coop my next goal, and then the barn, as i managed to buy (most of) the recipes i think i'll be using for my tavern :)
You will be venturing into territory I have yet to tread there... I hope your animal experiences are good ones..!

Cheers..!
I skipped the barn and coop. (I do have bees.) I just make sure to visit Holly and the butcher twice a week and I'm fine. Plus I don't have to spend precious time taking care of animals every day.

it's actually fairly easy to care for things in this game! thus far, anyway. i did indeed manage to grab the chicken coop and all i have to do is give them water and food. no petting, no picking up, etc. is involved. all i do is make sure they got stuff, press a button once if they don't, and collect the eggs :o

totally understand either way tho it does feel like if you're gonna invest time into smth you gotta be quick about it because the time feels like it goes by so fast lol
While I agree in part, because I do think the price is a bit high considering how early the room and board aspect unlocks, its still doable. It was introduced to be a gold sink for those of us that had been playing for years and had nothing else to spend money on true enough, but with the current system being streamlined the way it is if you invest heavily in plants that have multiple harvests during the season, make food with what you can fish or forage, and only buy furniture you can't build, you can get quite a few gold pretty quickly. There is also a skill perk that makes building 10% cheaper and the next perk on that line gives you back 30% of the construction materials when removing the tile (but not the money unfortunately).

In fact, I started a new save so I had to rework from the bottom.
I spent the first season bankrupting myself daily to buy seeds and tree sprouts, crafting recipes, and equipment and materials that have to be purchased. I am currently at the end month 2, year 1 on this save. My total profits thus far has been over 90 gold, almost all of which were invested into expanding my tavern offerings to make more money. I built and decorated my first room with profits from the last week of month 2 and decorated it quite nicely with stuff I got from Wilson. Now it can pay for itself and the next 3 rooms (I deleted the tutorial rooms because they weren't going to fit with my expansion design plan LOL)
