Stardew didn't do Early Access, it was released as a completed game. Travellers Rest is Early Access, it does show. What they do have is enjoyable but limited. To compare it against a completed game like Stardew would be unfair.
Right now I'm just grinding Tavern Rep because there's little else to do until I reach the next Rep Level.
personally having got it before new areas came in. I like the way they do events just to show them off :D
if your ganna get it, now would probably be the time, or after next major update. next update they working on multiplayer. (it has a few issues with how it pauses for both if one person opens a menu)
the events are how they seem to be showing off how they plan to do quest type stuff, and add story.
I didnt realise just HOW far they were ganna go with this game until they did the birds update and delivered a whole area along with new character.
I thought it was just going to be, get tavern, serve drinks, with a little farming and crafting. didn't expect story line, one wasn't advertised when I got the game.
the team are really nice to, its one of the few games I can honestly say I've not seen anyone be mean in, most ppl join the discord and when they find a bug they report it, and members of the community let them know if theres a work around until its fixed.
The games come a long way, but is not ready to launch out of EA, not yet, but its really getting there.
If your unsure about the game, take a look in the discord. you will see many screenshots of the game in old and current state.
Yer, I think I remember a GDC talk with the stardew dev saying how many ppl wanted him to do EA but he felt it would take the game away from what he dreamed it of being
If they did drop a project for this one, then that could explain why this one has started to take off.
they've added two new areas in last 6 months. right now they fixing the multiplayer issues since the community has been asking for it, so new content is on hold for a bit.
they are also in the middle of updating the art of the game, so farm most has been udated.
And they are preping things for seasons to be added, such as trees dieing after three harvests.
you can also collect one or two things from wilds now.
I'd say, if they did shelf another project for this one, it was worth it, doing two seperate projects at once is always a bad idea. sometimes its best to just focus on one and then the other.
since this is EA I always expect to have to restart.
however, I do have a save that I open up when things are added just to see if its compatible. so far so good. Halloween and Christmas stuff looks great together XD
saying that, yes, they do repeat seasonal things, but they also add to seasonal, which has a great result of more interesting seasonal ideas being tried out.
for example, Halloween there was a doll you could buy, and she giggles and moves around every night. I kinda like that it does more than simply go on the shelf, I play hide and seek with her every morning to put her back under the tree.
I'd be sad if I my friend didn't get a chance to get her next year :/
if all you want to know is how many ppl play and if they are still playing.
this site will give you the data
https://steamcharts.com/
I found it a while ago from this youtube vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo3d4INup7M
as far as I can tell, the sight can give data on any steam game.
(so long as its being sold, that may or may not include pre-release)
Using the charts,
you'll be able to see if the game is getting a peak and sudden drop or if it drops over a longer period of time, like several months
I had no idea this even exists. Very cool to see how much something is being played! Thank you!!!
