What's the chest for?

I cannot use the chest in front of my tavern. What's it for? How to use it?

you used to be able to mail order stuff, that was replaced with the market in town. i believe if you "lose" items now, they should appear in the chest the next morning.

It's where lost items go, like when decorations are on a wall that you move/remove, they will appear in there instead.
