No clue on the percentage but here's the roadmap: https://trello.com/b/CYmkOXl4/travellers-rest-roadmap
If you are okay with the risks and challenges of an EA game, go for it. IMO it's not worth the full price, as an EA game.
I'll take your advice and wait it out. They will probably take a few more years until the release it seems
yep like sweet says, dont... just dont.... the game used to be another game and to me it was better, now is a souless SDV clone and who knows maybe a new type of game happen in a few years and they drop everything they build so far to make it like that game AGAIN...
this made me curious. What changed the game so dramatically?
And why is it a stardew valley clone?
Many zones on the map are blocked.
The gameplay in the tavern in very nice, but outside it feels very empty.
the recipes you made were alot more open; you could basically add any ingredient to a dish. think adding watermelon to bread, as watermelon is a higher priced based ingredient, so it resulted in higher priced loaf of bread, instead of adding lower value herbs or whatever. but it allowed "creativity"....
it was changed to be somewhat more "realistic," in that the ingredients you could add to a dish, if at all, were more in line with what we would normally do. obviously this cut out some "creativity" from the game, and some were displeased. to be fair, the pendulum probably did swing a bit too far, and things are more restrictive than they were, and probably could be.
another factor to consider is that development has changed hands, so the vision of the original devs may not be the same as the current devs. on its own that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but its a factor in that overall change.
You can no longer make personal favorites, regional masterpieces or menu role play. Instead you get a recipe list to choose from, and the choices you have are, well, let's just say they have a particular bent.
One thing I do know for sure.... If you want to make an Asian Fusion Restaurant in the middle of the woods, this is the game for you.
Cheers..!
the people saying it's a SDV clone i think are being entirely disingenuous. i've played *a lot* of SDV. at least currently with TR, the Inn is virtually the only thing that matters. *everything* you do is about boosting your Tavern's productivity. you're otherwise not able to buy/do anything of relevance.
in SDV you can choose *not* to farm and it's not a big deal. there's so many other things that can be done in that game.
the roadmap for TR shows a lot still to come, and the devs are supporting their game.
with any EA game youre not buying into a final product yet. "getting burned" by EA titles is because you set yourself up with the wrong expectations. i tend not to buy an EA title unless i *really* want to play what already exists.
i think got this when it was on sale for $10, paid $15 at most. it's around .10/hr of gameplay so far. that entertainment value is pretty ridiculous.
As a new player, you will have none of the issues concerning the mailbox and the recipes.
These are changes that were made recently that irked a lot of the old player base who really enjoyed being creative (...or really profitable...) with their menus and not having to run to town to get what they used to just go out front and order.
Considering these are really the only two major gripes on the board, you have to see that there isn't a lot "wrong" here.
The game is well worth the $20 range as it stands, even unfinished. You can do a complete run from level 0 to level 55 where you will finally have every recipe. That is a grind, and it will take time. You may even enjoy some of it.
After that you will know to do things differently and can concentrate on settings and menus and rooms and decorations and role play and farming and now look at you, all down the rabbit hole.
Yes, there are changes that have been made, in error IMO. But also yes to rooms and decorating and cooking albeit with bents and limitations...
If you have any love of these games, now is the time to get in before all the relationships and magic and all really does make it a clone of everything else out there. (...they have a real opportunity to break the mold here, we shall see...)
If you have any love of these types of games, you will definitely get your money's worth. If you're just kicking tires wondering what all the fuss is about, I'd wait. You just wanna run through once or twice to say you did it. There isn't a whole lot of that to go around yet, though the 400 fishing junk achievement will take you a little bit.
And as an added bonus you will get a whole new game after they are done with all the characters so you will be able to just enjoy the dialogue... ?B)
I do hope they make the dialogue interesting and not just SSDD, "please can I stop clicking and just move on with what I need to be doing", "I really, really don't care about that time you went into the mountains and got bit by the magic wizard antler and saw baby deer eating onions on a ferry"...
Cheers..!
edit *although I must admit I do think the original had more creativity to it and I agree with a lot of the old players. I have watch people playing it in old videos and it looks intriguing. Wish I could have played that version.*
Yeah, what they said. And despite the many complaints here on this board over the menu changes. I'd still buy it again.
