How to get mortar?

All posts I can find tell me I need to skill something but I think the skilltree might have changed since then since I can't find an option for that.

you need to buy the work station for it. either the carpenter or blacksmith i believe.

I thought everyone got the recipe by default, but maybe not. If you need to buy the recipe, it is probably for sale at the sawmill. (It is no longer in the skill tree. A lot of things that used to be skills are now recipes from the sawmill or blacksmith shop.)

You need a Mixing Tank. You can buy them at the sawmill.

The Mixing Tank goes on the Stone Workshop. Also bought from the sawmill.

If you haven't done so yet, you should visit the sawmill and smithy in town.
To get to the sawmill, take the first left after entering town, it is near the end on the top. Talk to the person behind the counter and see what they sell.
Then visit the blacksmith. Take the first right immediately after entering town. You can't miss it. Go inside the building and talk the person behind the counter.
I'd recommend wandering around town and talking to everyone you can talk to.
