Games like Stardew Valley were not handicapped by having a multiplayer. Sure general farming is easier in terms of going to the mine and such.
I mean, I don't see how letting people have a server to join like plateup ruins the singleplayer experience at all. The split screen coop hurts more than it helps. Do you have any explanation why you feel like mp would ruin your sp experience?
Do you play online on two PCs? So two keyboards and mouse or do you play on one machine?
Reason: What can the other player do? Can he redecorate? remove stuff? Put it into the dustbin? Waste my resources for things I do not want like turning all my copper into piles of incense burners? Remove my fruit trees so I start with a sapling again and have to wait for 30 days to have it produce stuff? Place farmland where I do not want it to be? Cook stuff in the kitchen I do not want to have? Squander my barley stash for beers I do not want to brew? Make cheese from my scarce milk while I need a reserve in case I need yoghurt or cream? Fire my experienced personel and hire bad ones? Waste my money on buying a chest full of stuff I do not need like 500 glasses?...
Yeah, interference from random guys from the net sounds like fun...NOT!!!
Having a split screen with a guy next to you sharing work is fun and communicative. Online MP? Nah, count me out of that.
