Fishing is stupid! Too many troublemakers! Herbs!
I find the fishing update extremely annoying! I don't want to spend all day trying to catch fish and only end up with junk! Why didn't you leave the fish and shrimp on the mailbox buy menu so those of us who detest fishing don't have to be frustrated with such a stupid mini game?
Also, Why is there so many troublemakers coming into the tavern and starting trouble? The average is 2 out of 10 will end up starting trouble! That's a bit ridiculous!! Especially if all you're serving to drink is water!
And another thing; Those herbs we pickup and make pepper and what not with, Why isn't rosemary made with the aromatic herb instead of the same herb used for pepper? That would've made more sense since rosemary is very aromatic!

roadmap suggests something of a market, where the stuff could be bought instead of you going around and getting them. obviously thats not the stage the game is at yet; sometimes this is the price for playing in EA.

The fishing is very optional. The trash can be traded to get tokens to buy the new decor items from Mr. Shipwrecked, and it takes very little time to catch enough fish to make meals from them. I thought it was very well balanced and thought out. I catch more fish than trash... From what I can see, the ''lures'' and crafted bait (which can also be bought instead of crafted) catch more fish, as opposed to trash, than the simple baits like worms and larvae.

You can also buy shrimp and various fish from the lady at the docks that gave you your first fishing rod. The stock is limited, but if you visit her every restock day you should never have to fish for cooking if you don't want to.

The game has some balancing issues, but I thought the fishing update was a very successful and balanced addition to the game, especially since it can be completely ignored. Buying from the mailbox is a placeholder from what I understand, and will eventually be removed once all the vendors are added into the game.

The Token prices need a rebalance pass, IMO; even a single table runner will take several days of fishing &/or beachcombing.

I've yet to catch a fish! Spent many in game hours trying to catch a blasted fish and it was all a BIG waste of time! Not wasting anymore time on such a stupid fishing game!

I'm a bit confused as I get more fish than I can use with very little time spent fishing, and the fishing minigame is fairly easy (especially compared to other games). If you're struggling to catch the fish, make sure you're always holding left mouse button while following the fish on the bar. If your issue is getting a lot of trash instead of fish, try using the better baits (crafted ones). I get around 50% fish, 50% trash. You also only need a few fish per day to make recipes, at most, and the vendor can definitely supply more than enough for that!

the problem with fishing is that its heavily oriented toward mouse use, its ridiculously hard to do on controller, especially when fish go left or right quickly

This exactly. I don't use mouse & keyboard, I use a controller and the mini game was near impossible. I caught 1 piece of trash and 1 fish the entire time I tried fishing yesterday. All other attempts failed with the controller and apparently you lose your highly limited bait so I ran out and that was the end of the fishing for me already.

I wasn't able to catch a fish at all, even using a mouse, and ended up having to reset the day because I couldn't give the rod back to Hikari (it was that or pass out). Which means I won't get to the point where I can buy fish from her. Guess I'll uninstall and wait until the market is live. I'd really like fishing to be SIMPLE - no minigame required. What you catch is percentage-based, depending on the bait and rod you use, where you are, what time of day, season, etc. Just model it off of Animal Crossing instead of this inane bar system that's almost exactly like Stardew Valley (but worse). It makes the game less accessible for folks with disabilities, too! The percentage-based system would make it much like farming, mining, and foraging. You don't have to play a minigame to get iron or wheat, why do it for fish?

This! Now imagine getting the "Recycl-art" (buy 50 decorations from Wilson) achievement. Maybe if it was get 50 tokens or say buy 10 decorations it'd be fine but 50 decorations?! With the cheapest ones costing 8 tokens is just crazy amount of grind considering trash is the "bad" drop and whether digging/fishing/traps it's smaller chance to get it.

Apart from that I definitely am glad I stocked up on a few stacks of fish when I saw the next patch was for fishing and knew they were about to remove it from the store. Now, to be fair, as fishing mini-games go I'd say they did well. Though probably should allow purchasing from Hikari straight away to allow people who don't wanna bother with it to skip it.

I've just never liked fishing in any game. But I think the issue is that by the time I realize there's a fish on the line and the meter shows up at the bottom of the screen I can't get that small oblong box over the fish before the bottom meter runs out and I lose the fish. I play with a controller And I'm in my 60's so my response time isn't that of a 20 year old. But I can make tons of money with the just selling food, Juices, and Teas, So I can pretty much buy what I want. . My tavern is for the non alcoholic beverages only. If the customers want beer or liquor They have to go to the next stop on down the road!

Maybe they can add an OPTION to remove the fishing minigame, but I would like to see it remain as i find I like it. I can see the issue with using a controller, but why is it difficult with the mouse? Are you sure you're holding down the left-click while following the fish around (the people I talked to that had issues just didn't figure out how to do the minigame properly)? I know some people struggle with fishing minigames, but this one is relatively easy. The Stardew Valley fishing minigame is way more difficult than this one... Is it because of lag?

(And just to add this in case... I have friends who loathe fishing minigames and had to mod out the fishing minigame in SDV who were pleasantly surprised by this one after they figured it out; that's why I'm a bit confused for those using a mouse.)

Just tried to fish with mouse and keyboard. Still no luck. Are we Fly Fishing? Because if we're not there is absolutely no reason that once the line is cast that it's pull in and waste bait in the process before there's a fish on the line! I'm still of a firm belief that the new fishing update SUCKS and is STUPIDLY frustrating and a waste BIG waste of time!

My hands try to raise in awareness for this.

They certainly are not fishermen. I can't keep up with this kind of mini game so it will have to be ignored.

At least you can buy fish. It's more than enough to do some of the new dishes.

Not that I have room for any new dishes... The menu is only so big.

Cheers..!

Well, it seems obvious to me now that people aren't having actual issues with the new fishing minigame, it being too hard or bugged... There's an unwarranted, irrational hatred of fishing minigames in games like this. Some of us (most people) like them. This one is quite easy. (If you are genuinely failing the minigame with a mouse and not misrepresenting the situation, then you might not be doing it correctly. Wait for the fish to actually go underwater before reeling in, and during the minigame, keep the mouse button pressed as you chase the fish.)

I hope they just make it optional in the settings.
