I hope this gets fixed soon!
For me, it seems to be a bug related to the fact that I am using a *controller* (wireless Xbox One FWIW). Once I click something on keyboard or mouse, I'm prompted to press F key to plant my seeds, and after doing that once, I am able to plant using X on the controller, as usual!
I read about that as well but I'm in Winter and Wheat's little info window mentioned Spring I think for the extra harvest chance so it seems like if there was a chance to speed up the growth it would be in the same season as the higher harvest chance? When I played tonight it did take 3 game days of growing before that and another crop were ready to harvest finally. Total there was 4-5 game days in between the previous 2 plots of Wheat ready for harvest early and the rest that finally finished. I also noted as I shut the game down awhile ago that my 2nd set of a bean (that newer light brown one, I forget the name) should have been ready as well. The info window said it could be harvested again after 5 days from the previous harvest and it's 6 days since the last harvest now as well and it wasn't ready yet.
Can confirm this works for me too! With the controller I can't plant, pushing "x" does nothing. If I move the mouse or touch the keyboard then go back to the controller it works fine! A little annoying to have to do this everytime I switch seeds, but a good workaround until it gets fixed.
