What does coal stockpile do?

Does anybody know what the coal stockpile does? Thanks in advance!

It decreases the amount of coal the smithy equipment uses. Similarly for most of the other items labelled as "stockpiles"; they reduce resource cost or increase product yield. If you want to store items in a work zone, put a chest there; all of the crafting stations in the zone can draw from it, so you don't need to have the materials in your inventory.

omfg ty. It's been killing the fun for me with my inventory completely full. I've been using that chest in your room only, and even that's full now lmao.

You can move that chest into the kitchen zone and put your cooking/brewing ingredients in it. Eventually you'll probably want 2-3 of the big chests in the kitchen because there are so many different ingredients (especially if you want to make every kind of beer/alcohol)....
