Stockpiles for Firewood and Planks

I made the stockpile storage items for firewood and planks but they don't open. How do I use them to store these items? I didn't see anything on the wiki.

You don't open them, they aren't storage items. You put them down in the same area as the Sawmill and they'll boost the amount you'll make for those specific items (firewood piles increase firewood yield, and plank piles increase wooden plank yield). The more you have of either one, the more you'll get, since they do stack. For example, at the moment, I have 6 plank piles in one area and that gives me +6 to plank yield (so I make a total of 16 each time).

Stone block piles help in the stone area, too, but not in the same way. A stone stockpile reduces the amount of stone it takes to make an item. For instance, I have 3 stone stockpiles, so when I make a stone block it only takes 1 piece of stone now instead of 4 pieces. It won't reduce any farther than that, so 3 piles is the maximum useful number.

And the coal stockpile works like stone block stockpile, except for iron-working area. It reduces the amount of fuel needed for any crafts.
I think in one of the previous versions you could also put it into the kitchen, but it doesn't work now.

I was wondering if there was a coal stock pile. Thanks for adding that in.
