That's just not true. Control has incredible implementation of reflections lighting/shadows and runs smooth as hell with DLSS 2.0 implementation and looks crazy, Minecraft RTX beta is fully path-traced and runs great with DLSS and especially after a recent patch, Wolfenstein Youngblood runs extremely smooth and has a great RTX implementation, Amid Evil's RTX beta patch looks great and runs well because of DLSS 2.0. Deliver Us to the Moon runs great with RTX, again because of DLSS.
On the other hand however, Fortnite's implementation is hard to notice and destroys your framerate, and WoW Shadowlands RTX implementation is a joke of a gimmick that destroys your fps for shadows that you can't even see except for zooming in on your character.
It definitely depends on the game and devs. My performance with Ghostrunner has been a lot worse than the aforementioned games though, probably because the game is poorly optimized compared to the above. It'll probably get better over time.
My friend, obviously it's going to drain resources, but here it is broken. And if you consider RTX to be background visuals I don't know what to tell you, that's a taste thing. For me personally it is as clear as night and day, and since I have the hardware for it I'd love to enjoy it that's all :) The bottom line is something is broken with the RTX implementation, it runs flawlessly at 60fps in the first couple of levels but then it doesn't.
Furthermore when you get performance hits changing DLSS from quality to balance or performance doesn't change the performance hit by a single frame.
This is clearly a developer issue and should be fixed if it can!
Are you sure that wasn't before they fixed the broken Raytracing implementation.
I run a 3080 and I can get around 60fps tops.
Also the game hates Alt+Tabbing
especially when RTX is activated with DLSS
Only running at a modest 1920x1200 too (Got a 2080ti for my Index bwaha)
