Ray Tracing broken?
In earlier levels it was working great with DLSS on in quality mode even I was getting 60fps! A few levels in and the game stutters like crazy with RTX on and DLSS in any mode including performance mode, doesn't seem to make a difference. I have a 2080ti so it really shouldn't be a problem, is it broken for anyone else too?

Also 64gb of RAM and an i9-9900k processor, so there is definitely no bottleneck issues! Game runs smooth as butter with RTX off.

Yea - exact same thing for me.

I left a reply on their latest patch update which they said should have fixed broken RTX hopefully they see it! You should do the same if you can

Of course its gonna run better with it off, RTX drains performance for better looks. Having RTX in a game where you'll be focusing on whats infront of you rather than whats around you I.E the reflections of billboards or the reflections of your sword. I wouldn't bother enabling it as it drains performance for very little gain, considering every game that has it implements it poorly.

That's just not true. Control has incredible implementation of reflections lighting/shadows and runs smooth as hell with DLSS 2.0 implementation and looks crazy, Minecraft RTX beta is fully path-traced and runs great with DLSS and especially after a recent patch, Wolfenstein Youngblood runs extremely smooth and has a great RTX implementation, Amid Evil's RTX beta patch looks great and runs well because of DLSS 2.0. Deliver Us to the Moon runs great with RTX, again because of DLSS.

On the other hand however, Fortnite's implementation is hard to notice and destroys your framerate, and WoW Shadowlands RTX implementation is a joke of a gimmick that destroys your fps for shadows that you can't even see except for zooming in on your character.

It definitely depends on the game and devs. My performance with Ghostrunner has been a lot worse than the aforementioned games though, probably because the game is poorly optimized compared to the above. It'll probably get better over time.

My friend, obviously it's going to drain resources, but here it is broken. And if you consider RTX to be background visuals I don't know what to tell you, that's a taste thing. For me personally it is as clear as night and day, and since I have the hardware for it I'd love to enjoy it that's all :) The bottom line is something is broken with the RTX implementation, it runs flawlessly at 60fps in the first couple of levels but then it doesn't.

Furthermore when you get performance hits changing DLSS from quality to balance or performance doesn't change the performance hit by a single frame.

This is clearly a developer issue and should be fixed if it can!

Thats understandable, if you can notice a difference and you have the hardware to run it, yeah go for it run it all you want. It doesn't take away from the fact that RTX degrades performance in most cases though. If its DLSS issues its Nvidias fault, if its RTX implementation then its the developers fault I agree and for those who want to use it it should be fixed I agree.

Same thing for me. First few levels ran really well with RTX on (like 100+ FPS) on my 2080Ti. 3-4 levels in, performance tanked and started stuttering like crazy, restarting the game makes no difference. It's unplayable now with RTX on.

Same problem here. Had to turn off RT altogether

Are you sure that wasn't before they fixed the broken Raytracing implementation.

I run a 3080 and I can get around 60fps tops.

Also the game hates Alt+Tabbing
especially when RTX is activated with DLSS

They fixed the implementation on Nov 1st isn't it? I started playing 2-3 days ago I guess, first 2-3 levels I got around 130fps with RT on, but when I come to the 4-5 levels, it became a mess.

Same thing happening here with rtx 3070. watching my gpu usage, it seems like during start of the game it's at 93-99% (70-90fps) but 3-4 levels in it always dips down to the low 40-60% usage so not using my full gpu power. So I think it's a bug in the engine or something.

Had to turn RT off on my 2080ti at the start of the air filtration levels due to dropping into the 40's.

Only running at a modest 1920x1200 too (Got a 2080ti for my Index bwaha)

The same for me. 60 FPS on the 4th level with RTX on and about 30-40 FPS with freezes of the 5th level.

So it seems we are all suffering from the same problem, it runs super smooth in the beginning but then it's broken, and from what I'm reading it's on 2080ti and 3070 and 3080 so damn that's crazy. I hope the DEVs see this and fix it!
