Currently we don't have any plans for native online co-op. Remote Play (https://store.steampowered.com/remoteplay#together) is the best solution for now, and has the added benefit of only one person needing to buy it to play together.
It generally requires a pretty decent internet connection, but otherwise works quite well!
I hope this works alright for you :)
I totally agree, it's just such a technical challenge that I'm not confident we could do it in a way that would be any better than RPT.
Out of curiosity though, when you were playing, were you the host or the client? And if you were the client, did you find the input latency an issue at all? Did you find it made your character difficult to control?
It's possible that in the future we could implement a rudimentary networked solution, but it's going to be beyond our skills to make something super slick and responsive!
In any case, thanks for the feedback. We'll keep thinking about possible solutions!
Honestly, I'm surprised remote play worked as good as it did.
Now my wish is that it supported more players in remote play instead :D
