Ending [SPOILERS]
I have now completed the game and some things I want to ask about the story in general.

At the end I got this feeling as if there is another ending, and I'm not talking about A support endings. Throughout the game there were several choices that felt more like morality choices that were flags for almost another ending route. During my play through I chose what would be the most moral choices. When I got to the end I had the final battle with Ygrene with Excalibur and then the game just came to a stop and feels there are some threads still hanging. I'm still wondering what happened with Myrlin I think was his name? It felt as if there was something missing. As a side note I also got all the special chapters besides 12x I believe. Is there more to the story or am I just overthinking it? Or is the abruptness a setup for a sequel that is bated at the end of the credits.

There is a least one bad ending, so I would assume that yes, you missed something. I underestimated the visual novel part of the game, so I didnt see it coming, and it was just awesome. <3

I dont know how to use that "no spoil" system, so I won't developpe here.

Moreover, you can unlock some other special missions with the support system (got only 1 secret mission this way, but I assume there are more of them). Can't tell if you played them or not.

Hello and thank you for playing the game!

@22 You can use spoiler tags by inputting "spoiler" and "/spoiler" in brackets.

So to answer this topic's question

You're right, the choices in the game triggers new events as well as increase relationships, but there is also a "morality" variable (it is called just that, too xD).
It was set up for an alternate ending, but the scale of the game had to be reduced or it would have taken another year to launch.
So currently, there is a normal and a bad ending, but no alternate or good ending (even though some of the scripts are in the game). I am working on a full alternate path based on unlocked chapters and choices, but it won't be available for a while (earliest would be this summer, and I'm not confident I can pull it off because others update are planned before, so it'll likely be end of the year instead). The idea is to do a full change of the last chapters, and as the writing is an important part of the game, it takes time.
For Myrddin though, there will be a much closer update adding an extra scene for him and Morgana because their apparition felt a bit too rush.

If you want to explore more of the story though, there are several character chapters you can unlock with the right relationships. I will try to hint at which supports need to be increased because few people manage to unlock them currently.

Thanks for the tip.
I would love to see an image for the bad ending. That black screen is a bit empty in my humble opinion :/ Besides, I think this shouldnt be considered as a "game over" for this is still the end of the game ;)

Yes, you will get one. Dragons are cool. And she's the best dragon.
It isn't a "gameplay" game over so I get your point, but bad ends related to choices are a thing in VN, and this one is pretty easy to correct. I'm thinking of doing some bad end scenes in the other chapters instead of the "Game Over" screen if defeat conditions are triggered, maybe it will feel a bit less awkward then.

Thanks. I'll look forward to that golden dragon <3

I have reached the true ending of the game now. I look forward to playing the next story. Yet, I have two questions.

First , I dont understand why the Queen called for some stranger (aka Lionel) to heal the king when she was the very person who cursed him. Did I miss something about her plot ?

Second , the only character I missed was Grim. Don't know why. I could'nt talk to him after I opened his jail cell with Diana. How to recrute him ?

You recruit that character by speaking with him twice (Alex, Elphin, and Sylvie can all "Talk" with him since they all grew up together at the orphanage. I think you need 2/3 of that group to recruit).

Well that part of story is left kinda in dark but my take is It was not queen who cursed king but demon or she did it not knowing while they were having argument. It is said couple times that you can curse someone unconscious and she called him to heal him cause she was not aware of it.

Other story that is left kinda open is Marie why shes helping Diana is newer really told even on side bonds.

When you fight Uther, if you fight him with Marie there is boss dialogue that I feel hints at the answer to this.

Oh wait, I never addressed the last points. Sorry for the long reply xD

So, for Marie, it is hinted at in several part of the story, you will find answers in her bonds with Diana (obviously) but also with Boris, and Liliane. There are several dialogs in the game hinting at it with Liliane and as katyrzana mentioned, she has a special battle dialog with 'Uther'... And Ygrene too, for that matter.

For the curse, the answer isn't given explicitly on purpose. In the last chapters, you can see both Diana and Ygrene are confused about it, Ygrene says Diana "killed him again" and Diana wonders why she plays innocent.
If you read Diana and Elphin bond relationship, Elphin gives his opiniong on Diana's power and whether it could have cursed the King. Ygrene and Lionel dialogs make it clear she doesn't know either, and is genuinely trying to save him at the start of the story.
Diana and Ygrene both think the other is responsible, but that's just the product of their love and hate relationship, rather than actual proof.

If you recruited Nina there should be several dialogs where she points out curses are produced by the spirit/mind, and relate to feelings. Lionel says something along those lines to Arthur as well, and mentions it can be triggered unconsciously, and it so happens Ygrene has a formidable latent power - Liliane gets her magic affinity from her.
Helen has a battle dialog with Ygrene too, where she points out that she's not really 'possessed' (as in, not in control) but more 'corrupted', a demon possession is removing inhibitions and increasing specific feelings exponentially. Liliane and Marie bonds also address this, as Liliane is confident her mother "isn't being controlled by the mirror". When Helen supports will be implemented, they should also give additional details.

Not giving a clear answer leaves room for interpretation or for actually switching it a bit with a new scenario, this is why even though it's heavily implied, there is no concrete answered given in the story. But one thing for sure is that she didn't willingly curse Uther. She loved him, much more than he did love her.

Thanks for those answers. I have another question, related in my opinion to the game ending.

How can I unlock the 2 last illustrations ? I have played every annexe in my 2nd run (unlocked the mirror illustration I missed during my 1st run) and I still can't see those 2.
Windshipping  [developer] Apr 27, 2023 @ 10:48am
Hum, you should unlock the last one when you reach the ending (this is the "Thank you for playing" illustration). I will have a look at this.
The one before is both easier and harder to get, as it happens when one of your character dies in normal/hard mode (except Ursula Marie and Nina who can't *really* die).

I lost one character (sylvie) on the last mission, but nothing happened :/
Windshipping  [developer] Apr 28, 2023 @ 11:00am
...Oh, you're right. I tried it myself and it doesn't work on the last two chapters, it's because there is no "base" after.
If you want to see the scene now, you can try to have her die (that sounds horrible when I write it xD) before chapter 19 : the fight with Arthur is the last map currently where you can trigger the event. I'll fix this in the next update, thank you for reporting it!
It also doesn't work before chapter 5, just so you know, if Sylvie dies at chapter 3-4 there is a different scene.

By the way each character has a specific scene after they die, that you can only read there. The CG Art is the same no matter who dies, however. The scene always trigger at the next base, so if a character dies in Chapter 8 for instance, you won't see it until after chapter 9, because chronologically, the event can't happen in the meantime.

Edit: Also I just saw your review, thank you it helps a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Hi there !

Have just unlocked the pyre BGI and to make sure I would get it, I lost 3 characters on chapter 7 on purpose.

That makes me sad, since I got more backstories after their deaths... i'm gonna suicide them all. Pokemon !!

I played once more the last chapter on another save to unlock the last BGI, but it remained locked, even though I saw it at the end of the game.

Best regards, 22
