i agree with this somewhat, as i am coming to that realization with my experience playing in world tour. as i watch some of the highly ranked, consistent championship level players play, i see them doing pretty insane stuff and getting away with it a LOT. i mean there's aggressive play and there's insanity. i think i can tell the difference. insanity seems to work pretty well in this game. the top players are good poker players that have adjusted to the fantasy realm. i'm still stuck in reality, unfortunately, so i don't win at the rate they do.....

Yeah, I tend to favor a tight play style, and my ingrained habits never fair well on this. however, when I don't care and go loose throwing in on anything, I tend to win more than when I use an actual strategy.

Here's the deal, if you want to stick with what you know to be true in a standard, real (single deck) game of poker, a game that reinvents the odds of winning is bastardizing a serious sport. If you learn to expect the odds that are represented in this game, and then play poker at a real casino, you'll find yourself having delusions of grandeur, betting, calling and raising when you shouldn't. If you're losing a lot of hands in this arcade, it's probably a good sign you actually know the odds in a real game.

After having quad 9s crushed by quad Qs (I had pocket 9s and flop came 99Q - the other chump had Q2, we go all in and then of course Q turn and Q river) and after months of councelling by a shrink, I have concluded this is all just a social experiment to see how we cope with repeated lightning strikes.

kwiever-in real life the 99 would make a fairly large opening bet and the Q2 and many or all would fold. the 99 has to make a fairly large bet to protect his hand that probably wouldn't improve. so many fish play almost any hand dealt these things happen. watch the pros. hands are almost always head to head. i stink at real poker because i am lousy at bluffing both getting and giving.

The RNG is not rigged. What you're dealing with is the fact that the chips are fake, so people will call on every draw.

this game IS rigged, if only in that every seat has their own rng. so it is about as far from real, single deck poker as it is possible to be. THAT'S why we see these ridiculous hands flying around, 3 straights on the same table, etc. I regularly see 4 of a kind and straight flush and even a royal flush, the odds on these hands appearing in a fair table is astronomical. yet they would have us believe it's all normal and above board. I call BS!!

obv the chips are fake, but they have done a good job in designing the game so that players have at least a slight stake and incentive to not be completely insane. most players like that lose. by having rankings and flair players can get for being good it makes the chips more real. in general i find that when i am playing against a highly ranked player in world tour it is pretty challenging. i enjoy the game, but i still haven't trained myself to understand that it is fantasy. i see cards, chips, flops, turns and rivers and my brain thinks "this is poker". not quite.....
