Animals disappear

I have 3 cows and one bull. After 3 days i found that there is no my bull near my farm. I tried to find it by Thekla, but she showed me only cows on map as yellow circles. Please tell me, how i should find my bull. It cost 1450....expensve

I think that if you don't stable the animals (except chickens as they roost themselves) there's a % chance they will escape or be eaten maybe? Not enough info. Hopefully now we're at v1.0 more people will help find the answers.

i have the same problem cow's disappear after saving

Cows here sometimes disappear without a trace. This is a fact. You can return the cow only by downloading the last save. My solution: the cow is only in the stall. Brought out, cleaned, milked and immediately into the stall. I have not lost cows under this regime for many years.

Lost 2 bulls already, not funny at all

We are worried about it too.
The team has removed or fixed all possible causes, but it's still happening.
As far as we can see the cows and bulls don't just get lost. They literally disappear, so they can't be recovered in any way.
There is no "it got away" mechanic in the game.
Actually, there is very little that could make this happen without direct player's action (like killing or selling an animal).
The only things we can think of are:
- animal was glitched into a minefield, exploded and the meat chunks decomposed
- save/load bug that sometimes keeps them from properly saving/loading

If anyone finds a clue on how to reproduce this issue. Please, let us know.

I suspect it's somehow related to collision or pathing. I had it happen very recently with a calf that had been born overnight. It was stuck slightly on the back of the shed, I leashed it, turned around and walked a fairly short distance and leashed a sheep. When I turned around, the calf had vanished completely (unleashing the sheep left me with no animals leashed).

I've also seen a lamb which walked into a bit of ground that was slightly higher (just behind the barn on the slope up to the gate) and then seemed to suddenly drop below ground level and fall out of existence.

It happened 3 times in my last playthrough. They all disappeared after loading a saved game.

Every animal that falls trough the ground (because of a physics glitch) is automatically restored back on terrain after a while. So it's still in the game and can be found.
The same applies to weird collisions with obstacles and animals "shot into the sky".

We get savegames where animals are not present at all. As if something has deleted them. Or as if they failed to save so they cannot be loaded anymore.

We are trying to find the cause right now. We know animals are expensive and it's frustrating to see them gone without a reason.

I wasn't sure about the lamb, but I know the calf did completely disappear from the game because I went and checked with Tekla (since they do frequently end up in the lost spot near the bear west of her).

I've got over 900 hours in the game now, and I have animals completely disappear fairly frequently (I'll guess every 20-30 hours).

All cows I left out in the night dissappeared one by one (so 'day' by 'day' one cow), those in the boxes seems to be save

I had 1 calf which was in the box over night, disappeared next morning and after the next night a cow disappeared too. Was in the box over night.

Also lost a boxed cow today. However not sure if it was due to save/load or sleeping. I saved right after I got out of bed and exited the game, when I loaded in was down a witch hatted cow, but did not check before I exited to see if it was still there or not.

Edit- My bull has now also disappeared, and I know he was here when I loaded in. Has been a few in game days, also bought 2 more female cows and birthed a male.

my cow gather on wrong side of farm and starve and cant find his way back. lost her alf there too. but she gained another friend just outside the fence??
