1.Right click on the game in your steam library
2.Click properties
3.Create desktop shortcut
4.Right click on the shortcut, click properties
5.In the target field, it should look like steam://rungameid/XXXXXX
after you have found the game ID go to steam then go to steam userdata then find the game ID and edit the Pstate data.

you can do both with the ingame cheat menu without all the hassle you did

Be careful though, or the game will kill you for having too many knights, saying it's witchcraft.
