This looks trash. Please just make more Crimes and Punishment
Frogwares is trying to just put itself out of business I guess by trying to expand a niche genre to get more normal players. IT AINT GOING TO HAPPEN.

New Sherlock looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible. Please just make more stories for Crimes and Punishment

I like the idea of an open world Sherlock. But less action-oriented and more analytical like Crimes and Punishment. I also want Sherlock to maintain a Victorian look.

I think what will happen is that Chapter One will have a ton of complaints and then they'll go back to doing what they used to do, at least to some degree.

It's just annoying knowing that we'll have to wait for this probable disappointment to come out, and then wait for them to make another game.

It's shocking considering how great their older Sherlock games were. Devil's Daughter was great outside the action-sequences too.

I'll buy this game regardless and hope I'm wrong. A Sherlock game is still a Sherlock game, even if it is flawed. I hope we can mod it to make Sherlock look differently.

I'll buy it when it's on sale for about $5 but no way am I paying $40 or whatever they are going to price this at for a gun toting, shoot 'em up Sherlock Holmes. The idea of having an option for skipping a bunch of action content doesn't make the price worth it either.

Herlock Sholmes in the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles appears to be a more convincing depiction of Holmes than this circa 1999 boyband reject cosplaying emoboy from Frogwares.

So very true! Judging by the previous discussions, the devs won't take a hint.

Totally on board with Sherlock games continuing in the Crimes&Punishments vein! Or at least some DLCs...Crimes&Punishments just did everything right, but was way too short.
This young Sherlock looks too effeminate even if he's supposed to be in his early 20s or whatever. Also, considering it's 2021 the game doesn't look modern - devs are clearly striving for all PBR and realistic looks but in fairness, stylised approach would work a lot better and hence the game will age better (think Dishonored). This Sherlock looks uninspiring (and overpriced). Guess the budget is the real problem. Not a trace of motion+performance capture in here, sadly. Personally, I would love the crossover between Sherlock Holmes and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, I think that'd be fun mix of action and deduction which clearly one of the goals for this game.

You have the option to turn of action and put it full investigation if you want and i think you all will be very please when the game is release!

So far i havent seen enough of the game to make a judgement. The idea having a open world where you have to figure out on your own where to go next sounds interesting. I sure will miss london and watson but the sunny setting of the game could be nice to overcome our grey winter in real life. None of the frogwares games where perfect but i think i will give this one a chance. The perfect holmes game would been a classic point and click game like the two "lost files" chapters only with better graphic/higher resolution (but i know that this area is gone forever).

Hey fellas, I'll copy my answer from another thread.

I would like to step in and clarify a few things here. First of all, thank you all for your feedback, please know that it's much appreciated and is taken very seriously. So seriously, that we will in fact allow you to skip the action parts with an in-game toggle. If you want to focus solely on investigation, feel free to do it!

And if you loved Crimes and Punishments, there's a good chance you will find yourself at home here. We had the game previewed by quite a few media outlets, and most of them seemed to like it (including the investigation part). https://www.ign.com/articles/sherlock-holmes-chapter-one-preview-it-doesnt-care-if-you-cant-cut-it-as-a-detective; https://techraptor.net/gaming/previews/sherlock-holmes-chapter-one-is-off-to-good-start ;
https://www.gamespew.com/2021/09/sherlock-holmes-chapter-one-preview etc.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the game, btw.

Personally, I am quite excited about it! I fell in love with the Frogwares' Sherlock games with The Last Testament of Sherlock Holmes, and was thoroughly impressed with the details of the flat. So many nods to the canonical stories! Just a delight to play. Then I ended up playing half of Jack the Ripper, but hit a dead end and stopped (there may have been a bug, I am not sure). Unfortunately, it won't even play at all now on my new laptop, so I may just watch a playthrough on YouTube to see how it ends. I'd been hearing a lot online of how Crimes and Punishments was one of the best of Frogwares' titles, but I went with The Devil's Daughter next. I felt like that had great potential, but the ending really threw me off. I think there was a missed opportunity there for a much better explanation. Anyway, I finally got the chance to play Crimes and Punishments after that, and yes, it was nearly ideal. Very good game. I am all about the story, not the puzzles (sorry Sherlock!), so I am very happy to learn that the combat mode in Chapter 1 can be switched off. I have pre-ordered already, and am eagerly counting down the days until it's released!!

Same way here. I don't care for puzzles in games at all and just wanna experience the story. I am OK with combat in this myself, and look forward to trying it myself.
