Question - Rod Rest and Bite Alarms
I can see you can buy both rod rests (single and multiple rod) and bite alarms. What I am not sure of is why you would or how you would use them? I seem to get bites pretty much when the bait hits the water or not long afterwards, so wouldn't have time to bother using a rod rest/alarm. Likewise if I tried to use multiple rods it would be just constant rod juggling with bites every 30 seconds?

Is there a way to drastically reduce the bite rate and target bigger fish that I am missing (I have tried different baits/gear)

There is - you can have five rods out with big hooks on them and you'll get much fewer bites, but only from bigger fish. Increasing hook size will gradually filter out smaller fish, but at the cost of bite rate. :) It's a viable method in-game, I've used it once or twice to target big carp and pike in Russia on 2/0 hooks. Very slow bite rate but you get the big fish.

A rod rest with 4 rods and 4 different bait set ups will only attract the fish that like that bait, for some of us experience players we like a challenge and having 4 is a nightmare going off at once, speed fishing at the extreme, if money is no object get the same rod and reel set up and try for 2 at a time and see what happens if you can manage that then get another one, remember this game is not fish populated, so it will be different every time you log in..

Rods on stands are actually not working perfectly right now - seems like the more you have in the water, the fewer bites you get - you'll get far more frequent bites just using one rod in your hand. You also can't spin the same time that you have a rod on a stand - the lure won't get bites.

In 'working' conditions though, usually you'll have one (or more if you can handle more) rods on a stand and you'll be spin fishing at the same time to fill the space while waiting for a bite on the rod on the stand :)

Hmmm. Sounds like a terrible idea to me. I’m not really after some sort of weird chaos rod mini game. Think I’ll stick to one rod. Wouldn’t say ‘experienced’ fishing is the ability to land 4 rods simultaneously but each to their own I suppose….

I find quite the opposite. When I use feeders with rod pods it takes much longer to get a bite than when I am using just 1 float.

I only said 4 rods is a challenge because I use 4 rods, I think only 3 of them was bite alarms and only twice I have bought 4 in one after another. Not a terrible idea at all I don't think.. But I would say you need experience to use 4 rods and land them without flapping around, to me that is someone who is experienced in game fishing who can handle it..

I think we’re talking about two different things, but I think I have my answer: There is no way of targeting larger fish only with a much reduced bite count and therefore an actual reason for requiring multiple rods. Personally I am not interested in an arcade experience of setting up 2-4 rods that constantly go off. That’s not the more realistic laid back fishing experience I’m after. Cheers all!
