I have a beginner's guide to fishing in UFS2 that explains things like hook sizes - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2853480716 :)
For rods, reels, and lines, the kg value is the amount of weight they're designed to hold - so higher is better. The gear you start off with is a bit better than the lowest level gear you can buy in the shop, so you'll want to look for gear that has a higher kg rating when you upgrade.
For how to catch certain fish, there are a couple of guides in the Steam guides section, but the game is heavily based on real life - so you can do a google search for 'which bait for rainbow trout' or 'what time and weather for carp fishing' or 'which lures to attract pike' for example, and use the real world scenarios to apply in the game.
I go through a translator,
sorry if my sentences are not the most correct lol
so the first reel in the store is not worth buying? I doubt myself well; I did well not to take it.
after the size of the hooks I don't really understand, the highest number (16) for example, is a small hook; roach style e.g. and if I put 7 I would have a bigger one, so more suitable for large specimens?
and, of course, thank you for the video link that I will watch, but probably in English, so I will not understand lol; I should have been attentive at school mdrr
The first reel that's an upgrade to your starter reels is either of the 6kg ones, for $2700. Unfortunately it takes a long time to get there :( Meanwhile you can buy stronger rods for much cheaper, and you can use lines that are slightly stronger than the reels (like a 5kg line on a 4.5kg reel) if you're careful, until you can afford the bigger reel :)
#16 is the smallest hook, and #16/0 is the biggest. So yes, #16 will catch small fish, and #7 will rule out some of the smaller fish and let you focus on catching bigger fish.
Just upgrade your line when ever you level up.
Yeah, that's extremely do-able if you're keeping a good eye on the drag on your gear - I think I was about that level when I was able to afford the reel too, but got a rod upgrade before that.
16lb rod, 39lb reel + line and top water lures.
Since the nerf to fish stamina i start at 70% drag then quickly set to 100% and they come in so fast :)
I had not seen that some hooks have another number registered (16/0) for example. so these are calibers for the big one only? 16 young; 16/1 for the big ones. sorry for stupid questions lol.
i am currently lvl 8 :) and i have 1700 in silver
No such thing as stupid questions :D
The hooks go in order of smallest to biggest:
#16, #14, #12, #10, #8 etc. through to #1, then 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, all the way to 16/0.
Thank you for your patience
Thanks for this, going to have a good read of it.
As someone that doesn't really fish, the game leaves a lot of questions. Tutorial really needs some work. Figured things out to a degree through guess work and don't have issues catching fish (with a spinner at least) but equipment side of things and actual technique I am just lost on.
maybe it will come
Yeah, I don't fish IRL either - everything I know I know from playing fishing sims and googling how to catch specific fish IRL, or how certain lures work, etc. XD
