Heating in Winterberry
Hello! Really loving this game, thank you for creating it! ^__^ I am wondering about the heating dynamic in Winterberry. I just started my initial building in one of the cabins and find that I need a whopping FOUR of "Grandma's old heaters" to meet the minimum heat requirements of any guest who tries to book rooms there. Putting four of them in the building makes it slightly warmer than my guests want, but putting three in results in the temp being a few degrees too low.

Is this... how it's supposed to be? I don't see a way to adjust the heat each heater puts out (to tweak it down a few degrees, for example). Also the massive amount of negative decoration score that results from 3-4 heaters in one room causes my prestige to be -15. :/ Am I doing something wrong here? I am already super low on valuables and no amount of adding art to the walls can make up for this huge decor debuff. HALP!

You're not doing anything wrong afaik, it's just that this game should have released as Early Access because it's still very unbalanced in addition to buggy. Apparently a patch including some heating fix is being worked on.

In the meantime, I've gotten quite far in the story line without hosting anyone in Winterberry.

Yeah, I'm also having problem with this, the heating dynamic is a little confusing to get. If I get this correctly, the heater work a little better when you use a full 99x fuel stack. The game doesn't offer enough fuels to sustain 4 grandma's old heaters, and if you buy your fuel with jax, you will have to spend A LOT of money just to get one heater done. I'm only guesting 2 people at winterberry bc it's so expensive to get people to stay there. I don't have a problem with having to buy a lot of stuff so winterberry can be good, but the heat dynamic is really weird to work around with :zagmad:
Heat is absolutely too expensive, I have to spend nearly 3k a day to keep winterberry heated. I'm assuming it won't be as bad when I unlock advanced heaters but I've no idea how to advance those so for now I am one broke bear.

I'm heating the other place. It's 20 degrees outside and 39 inside, so I "turn off" the heating by removing the fuel thinking that should cool it down a bit. It's immediately freezing cold. I put the fuel back in. Suddenly it's 40 degrees and my guests are happy again...

i used the grandma heaters until i finish the sharks quest (have 8 guest i think) and then left winterberry until i unlocked better heaters

Even with T3 heaters (which I think are the best?) You'll need two of them per cabin in Winterberry, if you hire staff to keep the heaters going, that's 2600 coin per day which is ridiculously expensive, but I'm pretty sure that buying the fuel ends up around the same price... so yeah, it's not really feasible, especially after you factor in other staff costs.

Yup, I agree, heating's a little overtuned. We're adjusting it in the next patch, especially curving the Winterberry temps and buffing the early heaters + making Jax a little less greedy.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, i'm playing on GOG Galaxy and wondering if its been "fixed" yet... my wife and I just got to the winter buildings, we got 1.3.2 game version which seems to be the latest here on steam as well... Got the heater fulled up at 99x and the 3 rooms are still listed at 10'C and guests want 24'C... do we need to put 4 of them like mentioned in previous posts?
Thank you for your time and have a nice day! :)

Hello ! I also have a problem with the heater (basic one, 1st level). It won't heat more than 15° and guests want 24... What to do? Is there something I'm missing or is it a bug that the heater won't heat more?

We had to put the game on-hold until this is addressed cause we just cant progress anymore sadly...

Figured I'd find something about the issues I was having on the boards. This is post patch so I guess it's "fixed"? I'm still waiting for the ability to hire people past Gus but some of the progression seems a bit arbitrary. I only have access to the tier 1 stuff. It takes 2 heaters to get the main building in Winterberry to be a few degrees away from still not what the guests want.
I appreciate that nothing is plot / content locked behind positive reviews aside from the few 5 star optional gigs but It's just irritating to not be able to organically meet the customers needs should you choose to attempt that.

yeah... we dont get any customers anywhere unless we are above every requirements... so we havent gotten any customer in winterbury yet because its impossible to get it above 15'C even with a heater with 99 wood in it... putting more than 1 seems ridiculous as it would completely cripple the whole building with -180 decorations

we are on patch 1.3.2 on gog galaxy which seems to also be the latest here on steam... so its definitely not "fixed"... the fix would be to use twice as much wood to get the job done with a tier 1 heater... (would be nice if the fuel chest would auto refill the heater too otherwise its completely useless and reduces further the whole building for nothing)

Wait, that isn't what the fuel chest is for? That's dumb, that's why I bought the recipe.

to be honest, i have not let the full 99 fuel go down yet... we let it go down from 99 to about 60 before giving up when we noticed the temp would never go beyond 15'C as it was lowering even then... so perhaps when it does reach 0 it will auto refill? the game doesnt do a good job of managing its stack... the inventory sort button does not combine stacks either...

I just let people in winterberry be cold until I got better heaters. ^_^;;
