Problems with the game.
This game has potential but, at the moment, is riddled with glitches and poor design choices.

The bows and xbow are awful. (This is the biggest disappointment for me).

The range is terrible because there are no distance markers (as far as I'm aware) and you can't use your rangefinder!

The guns have poor shooting distance and they are hampered by poor scopes.

The scopes should go up to 8 or 10x (at least) and should be zoom scopes, not a fixed magnification.

The dogs are a pain and are more trouble than they're worth (except for the retriever which is needed for water fowl).

It's almost impossible to hunt rabbits and hares, they are skittish and you can't see them.

Some animals are hidden by the grass, like bobcats, foxes and even cougars and yotes to some extent.
This can be mitigated by turning ground density down to low, but it makes the game look awful.

Poor animal populations on all maps.

Licence system is a hindrance.
If you have to buy a license then it should be a one off purchase and harvests should be unlimited.
The current system is a nonsense because you can just keep resetting the map anyway, so it's pointless.

Lack of things to do, once all the required items are purchased.

Scent eliminator is massively overpriced, so is the wind spray.

Callers work well though, which is a good thing.

No story driven missions or animal scoring, no leaderboards.

Ability to purchase different calibres within the same weapon type, which is good.

No incentive to use anything but the biggest allowable calibre, for easier takedowns.
The animals should be sub split into different calibres.
i.e. you can use a .338 for a roe deer and a bison!

Should be able to carry more than 2 weapons.

No handguns.

No .22 calibre rifle, which is a huge miss for turkeys, pheasants, rabbits and hares.

Even after saying all this it can be quite fun, but it's starting to wear thin now with all the problems.

What do other players think??

>The bows and xbow are awful. (This is the biggest disappointment for me).

Agreed, no discussion here.

>The range is terrible because there are no distance markers (as far as I'm aware) and you can't use your rangefinder!

Agreed.

>The guns have poor shooting distance and they are hampered by poor scopes.

What do you mean by it? People (myself included) shot animals up to some 800 m. Scopes are okay but it would be much better if there were PiP (like IRL or in games like Escape from Tarkov or Insurgency Sandstorm), when you see magnified picture through the scope and no-zoom picture around it.

>The scopes should go up to 8 or 10x (at least) and should be zoom scopes, not a fixed magnification.

Agreed, there should be zoom scopes in the store

>The dogs are a pain and are more trouble than they're worth (except for the retriever which is needed for water fowl).

I don't agree, dogs are helpful once you figure out how to use them and they "level up".

>It's almost impossible to hunt rabbits and hares, they are skittish and you can't see them.

Agreed, I got only one hare in 50 hours just by accident.

>Some animals are hidden by the grass, like bobcats, foxes and even cougars and yotes to some extent.

Well, it's not like IRL you can clearly see everything, I don't consider it a flaw. There are markers in the game.

>Poor animal populations on all maps.

What do you mean? A few animal species or a few individual animals? I can't agree with either. There are enough animals if you know where to look for them. Actually that's great you can't annihilate hundreds of animals in one session like in CotW.

>Licence system is a hindrance.
>If you have to buy a license then it should be a one off purchase and harvests should be unlimited.
>The current system is a nonsense because you can just keep resetting the map anyway, so it's pointless.

Disagreed. It makes gameplay more thoughtful when you have to keep in mind what licenses you have, so you don't mindlessly gun down anything you see, like in CotW.

>Lack of things to do, once all the required items are purchased.

What do you want to do, that's a hunting game, go hunting. Maybe a nice addition would be some built-in challenges like in Hunting Unlimited series.

>Scent eliminator is massively overpriced, so is the wind spray.

Because here scent eliminator is a legal cheat. You use it only when it's economically sensible like for getting an expensive animal. Wind spray can be left in the store because you can observe particles flying in the wind.

>Callers work well though, which is a good thing.

Yup.

>No story driven missions or animal scoring, no leaderboards.

Story-driven missions are actually not a must-have for hunting simulator. Animal scoring exists in the game, what are you talking about? What's the point in leaderboards for a single-player game?

>Ability to purchase different calibres within the same weapon type, which is good.

Yup.

>No incentive to use anything but the biggest allowable calibre, for easier takedowns.

Disagreed. I personally use guns I like from the aestethic or gunplay point of view. IRL all guns basically do the same - they shoot.

>The animals should be sub split into different calibres.
>i.e. you can use a .338 for a roe deer and a bison!

Disagreed. Don't make CotW of this game. Maybe cougar should be allowed to hunt with .270 and would be great if shotguns could use buckshot and slugs.

>Should be able to carry more than 2 weapons.

Heck no, leave this to CotW. There should be no more than 2 weapons but would be nice if you could see them in 3rd person visually, like hanging on your back.

>No handguns.

Not an issue to me, I've never seen people hunting with handguns IRL (because they are forbidden here).

>No .22 calibre rifle, which is a huge miss for turkeys, pheasants, rabbits and hares.

Agreed. Would be a nice addition.
