I like the way it was handled in Final Fantasy 15, you could check that out. Might and Magic 6 and later have good real-time/turn-based systems but they're 1st person. MM6 is a great game. All the Baldur's Gate/Planescape Torment type of games have hybrid systems and are good. You could also try the Divinity-Original Sin games. Those are turn based for combat but free motion otherwise. Games like Witcher 3 are more real time, but they have turn-based roots so you can kinda feel the dice rolling in the background, and that's definitely a worthwhile game.
The previous King Bounty games, which are; The Legend, Crossworld (contains original armored princess and expansion), Warriors of the North and Dark Side. I started myself with King's Bounty; The Legend. Though from those i like Armored Princess/Crossworlds most.
An other one which is a bit similar is Legend of Eisenwald. Or try good old Heroes of Might and Magic or the original King's Bounty from John van Caneghem (new world computing)
I will say Songs of Conquest is another fun one.
