Fear is another one. And berserk spell. And several others I just do not remember.
It DOES work, you just don't know how buffs work.
Buffs expire at the end of you turn. By default, taunt lasts 2 turns. When they end their turn, it now has 1 turn left. When you steal it, it still has 1 turn left, but then when you end you turn, it is now expired.
If by broken you mean ridiculously OP, then yes, it is. As long as you understand how buffs work and how to use it, you can completely abuse taunt and make battles SO much easier. It works DIFFERTLY than the way Target did in the other games. It's OP AF, which I have said in other posts as well.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The only unit I have with the taunt ability so far is the knight. If I use it on its turn it usually lasts only one turn. My understanding is that lasting one turn means it is active until the next turn for that same units begins for which the ability has been used. And yes, if used correctly it can be very powerful, I suppose.
What I wonder about though, is that often that ability is magically transferred to another unit (without actively stealing it), i.e. in a battle a enemy units uses taunt, since it is the only unit I can target on that turn, I attack it with my disciples, as a result they get the taunt ability themselves for 2 turns, which is not a good thing, since they got decimated by enemy archers afterwards. The thing is, I don't know where that stealing ability comes from, I haven't acquired it anywhere in my game.
Wait until you can get the Bear Rider and Death Knight, they are far better tank than the Human Knight.
The buff stealing ability is from the first tier Anarchy talents
yes, you are right, it's the only skill from that tree that is active, though I haven't acquired it, so I've missed it. It's not really a good thing though, when units get it you don't want to.
You know, it's actually one of the more useful skill in the Anarchy tree. When you are more familiar with the game, you will know how to time it to make enemy taunt units useless
I don't understand what you mean. That steal ability is acitivated randomly with a 25% to happen. I don't see a way to actively control it.
OK, thanks
