Agree that endless mode doesn't really seem to scale a whole lot.

In case you missed it, after you beat the game you can turn on a bunch of difficulty modifiers to unlock the "true" end boss fight.

The game doesn't become difficult or deeply engaging until AFTER you get the "Victory?" ending. After that you unlock the difficulty modifiers. If you're doing endless on the very first run that you completed it, of course it's going to be empty. You're not even playing with all the content yet.

In my opinion, once the player decides to start endless mode it should be forced to add difficulty modifiers, maybe it could be done every time you defeat Praxis.

This will allow players that started a run on default difficulty to gradually fulfill the requirements to fight the true end game boss, have a more challenging run and eventually play with all difficulty modifiers active.

I also played almost for 2 hours an endless run on default difficulty

sure enemies increase their HP and damage but they do not increase in quantity and speed (both movement and attack), in my opinion they are still no match for the player.

Currently, i think the best way to have an engaging endless run is to fully enable the following difficulty modifiers:

Hulking
Haste
Bane
Onslaught
Horde
Malice
Pantheon

Even if you start the run with Titan's wargear it is still a fun but solid challenge.

You should not force anything. If you want to add difficutlty modifiers than just do it. But keep in mind that there are also casuals, like me, who really enjoy the game and who have not even beaten it yet on normal difficulty.

The option would be nice, but not an enforcement, sometimes I just wanna vibe, y'know?

Forcing to add difficulty modifiers would be only for players who decide to start an endless run and defeat Praxis multiple times.

Keep in mind that each time you defeat Praxis, you can simply refuse to start or continue endless mode and return to the Nexus.

Endless mode is not made for players who struggle to clear the game on default difficulty.

Just increase the difficulty to modifiers that for you don't make the game difficult and keep playing until it becomes too much.

The option is always there to return to the Nexus.

If I boot up any game with a loop just to relax and play loop for several hours and then it starts forcing me to start taking on extra pressure I'm just gonna flat out start playing a different game instead. If I choose the pressure it's on me, if I'm forced into it, it's a hostile environment that encourages me to spend my free time elsewhere.

The game doesn't have a mid-run save and quit feature (and, if i remember correctly, the devs told here many times that they don't have plans for such feature), so you will eventually end the run for two reasons, real life gets in the way and you are forced to quit the run or you will be defeated.

So what is the difference if you add some extra pressure to the run? the result will be always the same, the run will always end.

The difference is the mental energy commitment to the run. I play a normal run and even on loop, I don't have too much necessity to force myself to focus more than what's necessary. But when the difficulty actually gets ramped up, I have to commit more and more of that focus onto what's going on in the run, as mistakes will be made easier to make and more devastating to make, it becomes less of an experience I can just chill out to, which is ultimately what I enjoy IN looping roguelikes like Risky or this game, and more a demanding combat performance that ultimately does the opposite of relieve stress, especially when it's being done in a way that rather strictly takes away my agency TO just chill out with it for as long as I want in a way I enjoy.

If I want a challenge, I'll seek one out on my own terms, but if a challenge is actually forced upon me when I'm not seeking one out, it's not as enjoyable.

doesn't matter if you are casual or hardcore

games should be built around both audiences

this idea that games should be built just for casuals screams cash grab (ex. diablo 4)

Ok, understood.

But in all honesty, it is the first time that i read something like this, i never expected that a video game that forces a challenge could be so stress inducing to a person who plays video games for hobby.
Gaming wise i'm your exact opposite, i only play video games for the high difficulty and challenge (and it doesn't matter to me if it is fair, unfair, on my own terms or forced), otherwise i would spend my free time doing something else.

i genuinely can't stand easy and relaxing video games, i find those types of games extremely boring and a complete waste of time and, honestly, i don't understand the appeal.

It varies from person to person, kinda like food preference, some folks like food spicy enough to damage the plate it's on, some folks stare in abject horror at the first person while they have themselves a nice fruit salad.

I do appreciate some challenge, but I also prefer to be mentally and mechanically prepared for those challenges, which particularly draws me to the Roguelites, Musous, Hunter/Slayers like Monhun or God Eater, and Action RPG's. I'm also technically not shy when it comes to Character Action titles, but usually my method is to play those over and over in ascending difficulty.
