F1 2021

All I do is spin, spin, spin, no matter what,...
Been playing 12 seasons in F1 2020.
I remember my car being bad at the beginning (My Team), but F1 2021 I can't get a lap in without spinning, even when using the same settings.

Hitting any curb just seems to automaticaly turn on helicopter mode.

When using a wheel, this is obviously less of an issue, but I don't have a wheel at home. Tested this to verify the issue at a friends house. The tolerances seem so much smaller to make a corner that using a pad is a nightmare (compared to 2020). Some tracks seem to suffer much more from this, while others don't at all.

Bahrain was like cheat mode for me. The car was glued to the street and I had to increase difficulty 15 levels to get the same result as in 2020.

But after that has been a disaster. I actually canceled Spain and Monaco, since I was unable to get a lap in without spinning. Even with constant replays it was so annoying that I gave up.
Aserbaijan is better, but there are still a few odd curbs that just feel like pure ice now.

I am far from being a pro player, but I am able to win championships on 90-95 difficulty on MyTeam by year 2 in 2020. And 100-105 by year 3. Id not call that "bad", but I am sure there are many players that are much better than me.

So, what am I doing wrong in 2021? What changed?
It is not fun at all to drive,... the campaign is pure cheat-easymode with lapped Verstappens and Hamiltons and starting a new Team is like trying to drive a Truck around the track. Annoying.

Your answer lies with the fact that F! this year has significantly lowered the amount of downforce the cars have. If as you say you are using your last year's setups, they are now invalid and a large part of why you are spinning so much.

With regards to the kerbs, you need to increase your ride height from last year because of the changes otherwise you will spin a lot more often off the kerbs.

So, what kind of magnitute are we speaking here?
Like increase wings by 1? 2? 3? and ride high by 1, 2, 3?

In monaco I already had maxed wings and still can't make a single round without a crash in 2021,... just when I was "mastering" monaco without touching a wall for a full race. And now I can't even make half a lap without wing damage. :-(

It is borderline frustrating really.

Thhe Real F1 has new regulars.
The real Cars has trouble with understeering. too.
F1 2021 is only the mirror of the real world.
Learn to handle that fact.

If not sure where to start, have a look at the guides section or the workshop. That should give you a basic template for this year in which you can tweak to your liking.

I did the unimagineable and turned on the first level of tracktion control.
And suddenly it is playable and enjoyable again.

I have not used that training wheel since 2019 and never thought id turn it back on,... but no matter how many times I adjust settings and try to get something to work,... I can't play 2021 with a pad and without tracktion control it seems.
Barely noticed the difference with my friends wheel, so there is that.

Guess I will have to find a place to put that real racing setup or swallow my pride and keep the training wheels on.

I have same problem to. I play with no asist I and do 1.18.9 in monza 1.03.8 in styrian f1 2020 But in this game all i do is spin

Not baller enough to use no assists, but close to it. (I can't get myself to gear up / down on a controller,.. or go without pit assists).
Considered both to be "a pad thing" tho and went without them on a wheel and paddel combo.

But 2021 really makes me reconsider. I am not a competitive player, but one that likes the sport and loves to relax while playing. Over the years assists got turned off while still being able to enjoy a smooth ride and relaxing gameplay.
2021 makes me sweat tho. Like, no joke lol. It is stressful to keep the car on the track and not a relaxing experience.

So ill have to swallow the pride and go with minor newbie wheels and have that small tracktion control on. :-(

??? literally just git gud.
if you spin, it's your own fault, don't expect a 5 meter long and 2 meter wide car to turn 90 degrees on a dime.
kerbs will ♥♥♥♥ your ♥♥♥♥ up if you take them wrong, just like irl.

Ah, took a while for this to show up.
Always fun to watch people feeling superior and just showing they did not even read the thing they reply to. :-)

Mind showing off your amazing skills in a nice vid, so I can learn from the master? No need to set up much... a new team, set AI to 100 and do Spain. Looking forward to learn how to play.

it's not that i'm feeling superior, i just don't understand your complaints.
you claim to win at 90-105 difficulty but can't race without spinning.
try lowering the difficulty if the game is too difficult. :))

I generally run front wing 2-3 higher than front and it is quite stable, and I find my lap times decrease. I am not a pro though, casual gamer.

I will try that.
Usually run the rear higher.

For now I increased difficulty by 5 to offset the (much) easier handeling of having tracktion control on. Works pretty well,... I kinda finish at the same places, but without the annoying driving behavior. ;-)

Thanks OP, your title has given me a name for my new song :steamhappy:

Spinning with a Joypad (without using any assist) may be pretty normal: I think that if Hamilton would drive his real car with a Joypad, he would also spin at every corner...
