Serving time penalty in the pits

How the ♥♥♥♥ do I do this?

Normal time penalties can be served just by going into the pit lane, it'll replace your old tires and fix any damage like any normal pit stop but this time you will be holding there for whatever long your penalty is.

The penalty has to be for over 5 seconds, anything less will just be added to your time at the end of the race.

They just change the tires and let me go, they never hold me for the time penalty.

This means you didn't have enough time to even serve. Remember it has to be over 5 seconds to serve a penalty. anything under 5 seconds won't be served.

Sometimes it lets you depending on the type.

Yeah, it seems to depend on the penalty. Sometimes they let you serve it during a stop, sometimes they don't.
