This or F1 2017?
Using AC for anything open wheel but I want something more dedicated and official. Can't help but notice that 2017 is ten bucks.

I'm just start out as a sim racer. Any reason to go for the 2021 version?

Any insight would be appreciated thanks.

Only significant difference I believe is that in F1 2021 you get My Team in Career Mode. Other than that I can't see much, if you read further you'll learn that some bugs that were present in F1 2017 are still present in F1 2021.

F1 2019 would be nice option too if you can get it cheaper as you get the option to select Fuel Mixtures. Gameplay itself is really not much different.

2021 is better. Although, it may have more bugs than F1 2017, the number of more immersive features the game has really makes F1 2021 more interesting. (Braking point, career mode is better, my team, etc)

I'll say F1 2021, that said. First get F1 2021, install it and see if it runs decently for you. If it doesn't, then refund and go get F1 2017. But if it does run decently, hands down F1 2021 is a much more flushed out experience, the race physics are IMO done well enough. Although the AI can be a hassle at times, you just have to learn and anticipate when the AI is gonna go derp mode(AI has always been an issue in F1). Personally I race with a controller and find the game amazingly adept at handling controller input. If you have a wheel and pedals, then you'll have an even better experience. As the others have said, the various modes, MyDriver, MyTeam, Braking Point, etc, all make F1 2021 the better of the two titles. Hope this helps.

So I'm currently exhausting the rss mod for AC. I have already planned on going with the 2021 version as soon as I check the RSS mod out. Figured I'd have both. Thanks for your reply

I just got all my F1 mods downloaded for AC. I don't think I'll be getting F1 unless there is a big price drop and the 'arcade sim' doesn't excite me.

How far off is the gameplay compared to AC?

LMAO I am such dinosaur 😄

I am only learning about AC/RSS now, never knew about it before. I logged almost 300 hours so far on F1 2021 and for me it's a Love/Hate relationship lol. But I will be looking into AC for sure as well.

Clearly these clowns haven't played 2017. It's outdated at this point, graphics wise, physics wise, engine sounds, career mode, multiplayer, everything. F1 2019 is the oldest title I'd still go for (first title with revamped lighting, engine sounds and menus/UI), don't bother with 2020 since it's still expensive so you may as well go with 2021 in that case.

I own F1 2019 and F1 2021, I really enjoyed F1 2019 and it was more stable on my PC. Only reason I got F1 2021 was for My Team feature since I didn't get F1 2020. I don't plan on getting new title every year so next will be F1 2023 or F1 2024

Now I only play online so My Team feature didn't matter much in the end. But F1 2019 is a solid game, not free of bugs but much better in that regard than F1 2021 and loved the fuel mix adjustability.

Ahhh you reminded me. My goal is to eventually start racing online. The issue is my work schedule is terrible for anything gaming related. I'm looking at AC's servers and there aren't many options for F1 and the likelihood of me finding a group that plays when I can is slim to none.

What's the servers like with any of the F1 games. Do they drop off after each year or do some have a dedicated player base.

I honestly was going to spring for 2017 because it was just ten dollars. Now that my AC is modded out I'm still figuring if it would be worth it.

2020 is much better and as of now with keys much less expensive.

Well $10 isn't even a sale price, it's the base price, so just goes to show how outdated it is. You can find an F1 2019 steam key for around $10 as well, just look it up.

2020 steam keys are 30% cheaper than 2021, 2019 keys are 75% cheaper than 2021.
Games prior to 2019 are outdated.
If you can't afford 2021, get 2019 and save up for 2022/2023 for the new F1 regulations. There's no point getting 2020 now (IMO).
CLIPPY Jan 16, 2022 @ 2:20am
you should wait and save up till F1 2022 comes out , assuming it's not going to be a ♥♥♥♥ show lacking tracks once again
