Difficulty Scaling
New player here but the difficulty scaling seems... off... by a LOT. I tried a skirmish match against 2 AI and ended up winning without ever seeing the opposition.

Well, maybe Normal is just to easy, so I loaded same map but 2 Hard AI's. I got raided a couple of times but never a significant enough of a force to stop me from just dominating the game. It's almost like the AI just doesn't know what the war goals are or how to power scale.

The gates seem "cool" but is really just a built in "turtle" mechanic allowing players to just turtle for longer unless someone goes out of their way at a detriment to themselves to unlock them to attempt to get to another player AI or person. You COULD get around it by building ships but its almost just not worth it due to the resources needed.
I propose removing the gates or just putting them on specific maps or have an option to disable them.

The game also appears to only let you build palisade walls inside area that you control. Players should be allowed to build walls where we need them to prevent movement. This already negates the whole need for the "gate" system I mentioned already. You have a 'gate' system that is counter intuitive to the need to ever needing to build palisades.

Victory point condition set at max of 1000 points needed to win is fine but you can obtain that 1000 points extremely fast even with just 3 or 4 of the statues. -- once again this is magnifies the issue because the AI doesn't even bother trying to stop you.

This is a RTS game that requires you to manage your population, resources, and unit production. However, the game leans a little far into micromanaging your resources. What I mean by that is -- You can upgrade your settlement (which you kinda need to asap) but then your resource generation cannot keep up with your need to build exponentially more buildings.
