Comparison Breakdown of Frozenheim vs Land of Vikings (and others)
I'm on the fence on these two. I am looking for more "immersion" in the role of Earl/Jarl/Lord.

Some examples of other games and how they stack on my hopes for a good lord/earl/Jarl-game. A good example (for me) is Lords and Villeins, but other than being completely flat and still a bit bug-breaking at times... ... . Medieval dynasty could have done it, and done it well, but they decided to turn a "dynasty" into a peasant game. Kingdom Come was gorgeous, but the bastard missed the lordship. Going medieval has a bunch of "settlers" without a Lord, and incredibly small-scale. Rimworld can be modded to be more medieval, but lacks the lordship feeling, and gets rather tedius at times, without a sense of lordship era immersion. Kingdoms and Castles is nice for a bit, but then it quickly lacks any character, and immersion as it quickly becomes just a block placement game. Mount & Blade gives a nice lordship immersion, but of course it's really just a slasher game with disappointingly (if understandable) little on the management of the fief. Noble Fates takes a great concept and then goes oddball with it... and loses any era immersion. Stronghold gives a nice medieval immersion, but of course beyond being aged, its mission-driven narrative means you don't real grow "your" lands. King of Dragon Pass and its prequel did a great job of immersing the player in the role of the Lord/Chieftain with the management of the issues at hand, but of course... that's not a settlement game (more of a glorified decison-game). Manor Lords looks like it could be perfect, but it's not out yet (and so... who knows). Children of the Nile managed to capture the role of the Lord/Pharaoh, by having a presence in the game, and all the needs and issues that go with it, but of course... that's not a "medieval lord" game.

Looking for feedback on these two: Frozenheim vs Land of Viking, if I were to buy one of them; especially as it compares to what I've tried to explain I'm looking for (and as a sidenote, am open to other suggestions).

In both games, resources are a real problem for the maps and a lack thereof. Bastide I think is another one to look at. Some reasonable summation from what you wrote. I think Manor Lords might hit the mark, though I'm not holding my breath. There is a lot of copying and cloning now. It is getting harder to find some originality.

If you find the game please tell us, I’m on the same boat here, the closer that I got was stronghold 2 with the steam edition (I didn’t play the original release) but It has the city builder, the rts and the lord feeling , the bad is old graphics even with the remaster and the other modern strongholds lack, buildings, and the lord feeling that we want. I just bought frozenheim so is to early to said, also I played the manorlords demo and was great the city building part with a little of lord feeling , hope this days the rts part gets out . Others will recommend paradox crusader kings but I feel I am playing a board game on my pc,

I have searched as well for this ever since an old game I played when I was a kid(Lords of the Realm 2, which is on Steam now). So maybe I am looking for that nostalgia a bit, but Manor Lords looks excellent we will see.

Frozenheim is pretty fun I just grabbed it a few days ago. Its just a slow paced RTS game. I have not played Land of Vikings yet, but it is on my wishlist.

I have a few more on my radar... I'll try to update this thread if I remember, including a more detailed breakdown of these 2.

Well Frozenheim is more like classic RTS with sim moments and the other one is other way aroung. But Land Of The Vikings has better devs and they improve the game and actually care about the game unlike the devs of Frozenheim who basically abandoned the game.

Land of Vikings is the same idea as Tropico 1, village and send ship for raid (instead of pirating). Beside raids, Land of Vikings is just a village builder game. By the way Land of Vikings is full of bugs right now, endgame is unplayable, the game is not finished at all, if you want a village builder game, play this game but in six months, not now. Once you have well build your village game becomes repetitive and boring anyway.

Frozenheim is an RTS, like AOE but with vikings.
