Exploration Quest - X’s Secret Commission puzzle

There are two riddles, the first is a practice riddle. If you take too long the guy will offer to just pay you for your effort. You can “retry” for less than 11 moves for a bonus.

First riddle (8 squares)
1-3-4-5-6-8

Second riddle (9 squares)
2-3-5-7-8

It helps to draw it out on paper and map the responses, if you’re actually interested in solving it.

There also appears to be a second set in exploration missions under the same name. The answer to the second set is (1)3-4-5-7-8, (2)1-3-6-7-8-9, which results in a 30% bonus.
