You ask people to be dishonest in reviews so others would risk their money in hope that Devs maybe will finish the game...
No... Just simple no...
I wish devs where obligated to finish their ea game once they start selling it...
If "developers gotta' eat" then maybe they should make a quality product worth holding onto for TWENTY DOLLARS! (Video game developers are not exempt from how the rest of the world's concepts work) This is NOT a 20 dollar game. It's not even an Early Access game that is worth 20 dollars. If it was maybe 5-10 bucks (because, that's how much this game is currently worth) people would likely be more accepting and patient, even though that's stretching it big time.
But, this game's issues are way too egregious to justify spending 20 dollars on a game that worked better before the devs decided to throw a hotfix (in an attempt to fix what ain't broken) that broke everything and not bother rollbacking it.
If your feelings are hurt because of the abundance of people that gave this game the negative reviews it rightfully deserves, maybe you shouldn't be on forums where people can tell you you're wrong.
Go to whatever toxic positive echo chamber exists on the internet for this game. I heard official Discords are usually safe spaces for toxic positivity these days.
I'm not asking people to be dishonest. I mean tbf Steam really should have a sort of Neutral Recommendation button, but it doesn't exist so you're left with 3 options. Going positive, going negative, or not putting a review at all.
The issue is moreso that many of the people would recommend the game if there was more to it and many claim they will change it when more content and such gets added (But they 100% never do change their review, it happens so often with games its crazy.)
It's just as easy to recommend it for now in hopes of improvement and changing it to a negative review later, so why not do that instead? Plus I'd hardly call it a risk with Steam's generous 2 hour refund window, cause admittedly, if you focus on progressing as quickly as possible, you'll get a feel for all content in 1 1/2 - 2 hours, which is within that window. I'd like to think its fairly obvious if you're going to like this game in an hour or so, so there isn't really a risk if you don't like it, you can just get that refund (I've done it with plenty of games before myself.)
Tbf, I am bit with you on early access models being kinda bad, because you always, when selling something, wanna start with your best foot forward. I am willing to admit there isn't a lot of content, but there is most certainly potential for more. However, the devs decided to go with early access for whatever reason, and I did have at least my $20 worth of fun so far, and I'm eager to see what else they do with the game and the world, even getting snippets of the lore I find to be very interesting.
The hotfix seemed to do more QOL changes than anything, a lot of people were complaining about certain problems and I think its commendable that the devs would react so quickly to fix them rather then sitting around for LITERAL MONTHS to fix bugs like some big game studios and developers. And this dev team has a smaller base to actually push towards making hotfixes and such, so being quick on the draw to fix things to cater to the player base rather than force the player base to deal with issues, I think is a better approach.
You are entirely misreading me if you think my feelings are hurt. I'm not attacking anyone, rather I'm trying to support the game so I can see it grow into the potential that's so clearly there. I'm sure you've had hopes for games to grow and prosper, and it very clearly shows you've been burned time and again. It's alright Squishy, you are safe here, I've been in the same boat, but the difference is I'm not bitter about it and I have a good feeling about this game.
You are also making an assumption... that people aren't adults, that people aren't capable of making up their own minds on things. It seems you would rather have the echo chamber than opposing views. At no point did I say negative reviews are invalid, I'm simply addressing the reviews that would ordinarily seem like positive reviews but are marked as negative. Like I told the other person here, I do think Steam needs to implement a middle ground review option for these people, so they can sit on the fence until deeming which side they fall on, rather than tanking a game's reputation out of the gate and potentially hindering its growth. People ARE adults, people CAN make their own decisions. It will not hurt to spend $20 for 1 - 1 1/2 hours of game time to figure out if the game is right for you on steam, because, once again.. they have a guaranteed refund policy as long as you have less than 2 hours of playtime in a game. As it has been said, there isn't much content as of yet, but there will be. If you don't like it now, get the refund, keep an eye on it, check it out later. No harm, no foul. You are not being forced at gunpoint to buy this game and keep it past the 2 hour refund window lol.
