How to defend?
Hello, I'm genuinely confused as to how to defend against the first wave of outlaws.

Honestly the game could cover more in detail one what to do lol Im getting raided constantly and gave up cuz my entire town just gets sniped from a distance while im fighting 1 group the other mows down the other half the town and it too me awhile to fiture out how to get clay, which is that same nodes as ore... and i have exactly 3 spots jammed next to each other and none for 55,000 miles x.x Then winter hits after 3 back to back sniper raids and every starved :auyay:

Cant build gunners if i cant stop losing buildings for 5 seconds lol
Hello! So the team have been talking a lot about outlaw raids and it looks like they're leaning towards removing them in favor of a few different ideas. One of them being bandits sneaking in to kidnap a citizen and you would need to go and save them. Another idea is if you die and lose your crown, the enemy that steals it gets a big ceremony and become SUPER POWERED and you gotta take them down. We think this would make it better for players so they don't have to try and deal with the raids so often but still give them the option to have some epic fights if they want.

Those aren't half bad ideas honestly, maybe early on raids could involve more simple things to like the kidnapping so you have defences when stronger raids hit. Possibly tie units in waves to research made? Idk 🤔

The biggest issue was the ranged units, all I had was melee haldiberd users but the bandits kept coming with large forces lf very long range almost sniper range it was so far units, and from 4 directions for me. So I'd have to run to find them with no indication as to direction, and by the time I did I would lose a majority of my village. Thus full rebuild.

This would compound each time as bigger waves came with 20 bandit raids xD game is very fun though right up till I couldn't handle the raids that seemed very fast for my first time playing. I was in the middle of building walls cuz I thought it was the clear choice but I failed haha

I have it on gamepass right now but I'll for sure check it out again and even buy it at some point it's promising.

i think the weapon unlocks should be rewards for defeating a player initiated raid! it gives a reason to progress with raids, and it makes them feel more rewarding and less punishing.

also letting the user choose to initiate them means the player can decide when they're ready, and that lets you have the option to make raids more challenging and engaging as the player decides when they are ready. im biased tho because im a slow player.

Not the worst though, I'm keen on them evolving as you do, but it could be raids happen with certain units until you "challenge" the progression wave even. A "I'm ready for ranged units" or what not, and a fail condition being met means it resets and they run off? Kinda like the capture the crown idea? And you have to get the crown back to challenge em again? Lol

Honestly a lot of different ways to take this to be less punishing and I'm okay with whatever they decide :auyay: I was just offering feedback from a first time playtrhough perspective myself.
