After moms heart?

i just beat moms heart and i know this isn''t the ACTUAL end of the game.. imjust wondering what i have to do to get the final ending? do i have to beat it another 6 times? its kinda stupid that you have to keep replaying the beggining stages to see more of the game

You can access one of the extra floors early by spawning a devil room after defeating mom's heart, but yeah, you basically need to replay stuff a lot. Not my favorite aspect of the game either, but at least the item combo variety keeps things from becoming too stale.

Then you need to kill Mom's Heart 9 times, defeat It Lives that will replace Mom's Heart (this will unlock Sheol and Cathedral), complete Sheol to get one of the endings, beat cathedral 6 times to unlock the polaroid and defeat Isaac holding the polaroid to get to the chest. Beating blue baby in the chest will unlock the last ending.

You can kill Sheol before this: A devil room/angel room spawn or the shovel will allow this.

It's not really BS; this is the heart of the game. So, yeah, if you can't stomach this, you'd best move on.

lol the heart of the game is to beat the same game over 10 times.. sad.. i'd love it if DLC came out that added a whole new sequence of levels/bosses.. Wrath of the lamb is cool, but i still have to sift through many old bosses/items to find new content! lol idk.. still a great game, just stoned and rambling :P

i haven't tried it yet but i thing the "we need to go deeper" item works to get to the cathedral

You need to enter the "deal with the devil". There's a hatch you can enter.
