It's a 20-sided dice... Use it to roll plain pickups.

hi May 19, 2014 @ 1:09pm
it shuffles all the items u can pick up in a room

When using the D20, it rerolls every regular pickup (coins, bombs, keys etc) to something else. Usually to something in the same catagory, thus coins, bombs etc. Sometimes, however, those drops reroll into chests or even golden chests. Golden chests have a chance to have an item in them. All this allows for some insanely powerful runs if you know how to abuse the D20, D6 and The Habit.
For more details I suggest you go watch some of Cobaltstreak's breaking runs on Youtube.

ok thanks

You could also look up Northernlion channel (he has over 800 episodes of BOI), also bisnap is great channel to look for information about BOI (he does some breaking runs, which are mostly done in a livestream and then later on added into youtube, also he does regular BOI runs too)

In general all the needed info are really in the wiki. Also if you dont know what breaking runs is, it is what it sounds, breaking the game, making it crash intentionally by either emptying the item pool (not sure if this is true, but mostly it happens when using D20 and D6 together to gather alot of items and then accidentally picking up a pill or tarrot card.

The wiki is indeed a good place to do some research. However, and this has been mentioned by some of the more knowledgeable BOI player like Cobalt as well, the wiki provides inaccurate info on some of the items. Most of the info compiled on the wiki is edited by players who add item information based on information given in-game. Players like Cobalt have actually seen the game code and know that some items don't actually do what the game says they do.
This seems to have been fixed on some items but there are still some inconsistencies here and there. Nothing to really worry about but just thought I'd put it out there.
