Samson is terrible

Really, I've played this game for almost 180 hours and I still need the Samson achievements.
He's ridiculously bad, slow, with low damage and slow fire rate, low health and (probably doesn't depend on him) bad bad luck.
I just keep playing and dying hoping for the day I will get epic fetus on floor 1 or 2 so that I can just finish the damn achievements and get my platinum god.
He just ruins the whole game for me, I really love playing with Isaac and I win almost every single run with most of the characters (except maybe blue baby) but Samson... man he's terrible.
He's just incredibly boring to play because of his slowness and dependance on fortune.
I just need to beat Sheol, since I already got the "beat the final chapter with Samson" achievement because I got lucky once.
And the Bloody Rage item, that's just a joke: "oh you think this character is weak? Here, have an item that will make you stronger once you've killed 4 enemies, so you will become stronger when there is noone left in the room".
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my frustration.

I restarted until that happened. Seems to be a common practice. I agree with everything you said. It seems like Samson will get an overhaul in Rebirth to be more on par with the rest.

Yeah, he's really bad. I usually have to compromise for a Satan kill instead of a Chest run for Samson since I don't often have what I need to survive.

I managed to make a successful chest run with Samson, i just need a satan kill now!
I am actually pretty OP in the current run, I got mom's knife on floor 1, so I might be close, after 175 hours played, to the achievement.

I completely understand how you feel, but at the same time, the entire point of Samson was that he is supposed to be hard. Just as you have a character that you win with almost every time, you just as much need a character that you lose with almost every time. It just gives more balance to the game. What would be the point if you are constantly beating the game without any trouble? Samson is a challenge character, meant to be for someone who wants to battle the odds and win with more that simply good stats, but good skill as well. Just not as extreme as Blue Baby.

I agree, Samson is a hard and unfun character to play as. After I got the achievements, I've never touched him anymore.

Playing Samson in this game, you would think his hair had already been cut.

I beat it with Samson by gambling on the blood banks for the Blood Bags (HP and Speed upgrade in one) and getting Brimstone and Lord of the Pit and I think some damage upgrades as well. So I had flying, brimstone, 6 or 7 heart containers and decent damage.

Personally he´s one of my favourite chars, I´ve finished everything and I really just want the challenge at this point, he´s supposed to be crap for this very reason.
It is entirely possible to finish the game with him, but it -is- one of the biggest challenges you will face and I wish you all the best of luck with it.
