How the heck is Brimstone good?

I hear alot of people say the "Brimstone" item is good. Whenever I get it, it screws up my game.

Sounds lame but you just need more practice with Brimstone. For instance when you hold down the shoot key and enter a new a room, Brimstone will be instantly charged and you can then release it.

Also, when you for example shoot in the left direction and tap the left key multiple times, then Brimstone will actually damage more than once.

Brimstone is actually one of the best items, combine that with brimsnapping and it being very accesible due to being a common item in Devil Rooms and you get yourself a loyal safety net. Brimstone can literally carry an otherwise doomed run to succes.

Brimstone by itself isn't that great. Brimstone plus a few damage ups is great though. With brimstone you don't have to worry about range, and it always passes through obstacles and enemies. You can literally one-shot some rooms.

Brimstone plus polyphemus is just ridiculously awesome.

As Asandir said, Brinstone is only really great with the glitch where you tap the fire button repeatedly.

Brimstone only normally hits twice if you let it's charge stay on screen for the full time. However, when you tap the fire button (assuming you do it fast enough) it can hit up to 5 times. So effectively it's a 2.5x damage multiplier, on top of the 3x multiplier that Brimstone already gives you.

tl;dr Doing the tapping glitch nets you up to a 2.5x damage multiplier on top of the 3x Brimstone multiplier.

Seems pretty good to me.

Shooting this kind of lava out of your mouth plus does lots of damage is good but its recharge you cant change and its slow but cool but its not that awesome epic.fetus is the best i think brimstone is 9/10 :)

Whenever i roll with brimstone i end up restarting the game at the mom fight due to boredom :\... I used to like it a lot,until moms knife,and tears ups,anc cancer and lots of other items.

No problems but i see problems in my own post.

What would be better said is that brimstone is a powerful item yes and it has good potential to be game breaking but what is important is how you play, for example i dont like neither brimstone or moms knife but it doesnt suit my playstyle.

Thats why threads like whats best and worst are stupid because every item ingame ( expet the broken ones ) are good, it all depends on how you play the game.

For example, i like fast rapid tears and movement blocking, like the poop or lemon mishap, most people think that those two are one of the worst items ingame but for me, i can use both of them pretty good but then again, it suits my preferd playstyle.

I find Brimstone to be great as long as you get a damage up or two (depends on which character you get it on).
