Game unplayable due to FPS drops

Yeah same issue. Playing it in windowed mode in hopes of better fps but still feels kinda laggy. I suspect the engine is locked to 30fps or so.

It is just unplayable, I tried 800 x 600 lowest setting

Nah settings dont matter honestly. I remember since the early days it felt hell laggy. It seems like it's straight up build in the same engine those flash games are. I just got used to it again playing lately but if someones coming from Rebirth it must seem atrocious...

Too hard for me, especially the lag is dramatic when there are more bullets and things going on

Yeah man it is pretty hardcore ngl. But starting 3 days ago (since 2014 or so) I got 3 wins (hardcore mode twice).
I can not emphasize enough that the game is HEAVY reliant on RNG.
Most runs are impossible but once in 5 or 10 runs you get just the perfect mount of gear.
Wish I recorded runs the amount of luck sometimes is unbelievable.
I wanted to play a bit before rebirth for nostalgia's shake but now I can't stop playing it is so satisfying when you get it just right lol.

I say you give it another chance if you have the time and patience. If not play Rebirth if you like the general premise and gameplay :)

there's a mod called spidermod that's a lil hard to find but makes the game run WAY BETTER

it includes the WOTL dlc stuff but doesn't have the latest update which makes a couple achievements impossible to get as far as im aware

i made a semi outdated guide that has some links to the mod in it // the best link is probably the web archive one at the end

main purpose of the guide was to archive the mod and have links to download it since the official site for it is gone now

Thanks for sharing bro! I will try it out after im done with the eternal stuff since those are the ones that probably won't work well with the mod :)

yea i think the last update added the eternal stuff so sadly it isn't available in the mod
