dad's key usage

I was just messing around in isaac and i picked up dad's key. I never use the thing since it kinda sucks, but I heard if you use it during a boss fight the devil/angel room opens. It didn't. I tried again after the fight and that didn't work either. Suggestions? (the key did let me open the boss trap room however).

you can use it when you clean a room to get an extra loot. You must have the good timing :

It won't always show the devil room as the devil room has a percent chance to appear which is set before you have even entered the boss room. I suggest you read up on the devil room on the bindning of isaac wiki to find out more

I know the devil room percentages, I just thought dad's key gave you a free trip to one no matter what. Thanks for clarifying.

The Devil Rooms Chance to appear using Dads Key is the same as you had after the Bossfight you can also use it after doing a room, while the enddrop appears to get a chance of an 2. enddrop
