Although I totally loved this game and think it has a fair price tag, I also think it's unfair and maybe a bit unethical to sell a game like this -- not informing about the nasty 'leftovers', that are still within v1.666
Keep also in mind that this game runs in Flash, regardless of how powerful your PC is, the FPS won't go above 30 and also it might decrease during long playthroughs.
Overall, play Rebirth, it fixes a lot of issues that the original had and improves upon it by a lot. If you like the soundtrack of the original more, there exists the option to download a mod that replaces the music. And regarding the graphics, I don't think there exists a mod that brings back the original graphics, but I guess you could get used to the pixel art style.
EDIT: It turns out there is a mod that brings back the graphics of the original version and even one that removes the extra contents of Rebirth. The graphics mod is called "Reflash" and the one that removes the content of Rebirth is called "Classic mode".
