Also, I see why full health items are weakened in hard mode.
It's trival to get 7+ heart containers in post It Lives.
Admittedly I wasn't aware that you could be awarded a flight power-up for amassing seven heart containers, It was a nice additional going into the Catherdral/Chest though.
Just beat eternal satan with Cain (because stat up pills being a given is nice) without natural flight, but I did use pinking shears as a activated flight more than once, before going into cyrstal ball. the one big eye shot, and tears up pills for days meant that I did decent damage, and I got a demon baby and little chubby (the attack maggot)
Still would have liked natural flight to avoid a bunch of creep damage. It came down to the last half a heart. I feel like eternal satan (as is eternal mom) is easier then normal satan, because spawning bosses who mess around a bit isn't as good as spawning normal monsters who rush you instantly. At least eternal it lives is harder than normal heart, and eternal isaac is roughly the same.
Just did hard mode eve. ... who is probably the second hardest character to beat hard mode with, just because she has terrible damage scaling.
It's really hard to go into babylon mode, and that general requires that you either have a guppies paw or give up on the hard mode eternal hearts. (which lets you take more deals with the devil)
Managed to get an early demon baby, big mushroom, and pentagram, which made me do good damage, and then got a little chubby. and got 2 flies and a meat cube for blocking.
I actually gave up a book of revalations in the Catherdal because I needed extra damage, and there was a library with the devil book.
Fly damage is real! (Is it not ... scaled in hard mode?)
Ironically, the last run I almost won was lost because I got a dead cat in the second to last level and isaac took all of my lives.
If it was'nt for the sheer damage up I don't think I would have survived with maggy, samson or eve although I believe I might of picked up some damage upgrades with eve and samson prior to it, still it is essential to have the damage increase for eternal issac/??? of which you are forced to fight the eternal forms of due to their severe health up over the originals, but if you have enough range those fights can actually be a little easier than their normal counter parts because of the constant teleportation giving you distance from the tears they fire which inevitably hit the floor most of the time.
you have to remember there is a cap on damage so I believe it ups your attack to the cap although as someone stated you attack is decreased in hard mode, but I don't know if the cap is decreased as well.
And I don't believe the curved horn can put you over your cap either like some other trinkets like cancer apparently can, unfortunately I kind of broke my mouse out of anger at the annoying range I was getting with ???, I had loads of spirit hearts until I picked up the mitre and the relic then all of a sudden I was getting tonnes of red hearts instead and so I died despite doing really well and thusly I can't play for a while until I get another mouse.
You just get decreasing returns (which get more ramped up in hard mode)
So it sounds like you went from 3.5 damage to 12.5 to 24.9 damage to explain two hits on angel babies. (I think they have 25 health)
Given the decreasing returns, I can't determine how much that actually increases you damage stat. but maxed out pause screen stats matches up with 12.5 damage. assuming that it didn't change between this and rebirth.
And I was also aware of the decreasing returns however I thought I recalled somone say that there was a hard cap on attack as I've never seen any increase after a certain point either, having a hard cap for the other stats would definitely make sense since there would be no use beyond a certain point.
Player speed has a limit of 2 which goat hoof can break, while shot speed doesn't. Assuming that rebrith uses that same stat screen in pause, both stats use the same range of values to map out, hence you can.
Range has no hard cap, but increases aren't noticable after a few upgrades.
