Xbox Controller configured through Steam?
Has anyone figured out how to configure an Xbox or PS controller for Isaac1 yet?
If you right-click on any game in your library there's an option for 'Edit Steam Controller Configuration' where you can set up Steam/Xbox/PS/Logitech etc controller for that specific game. I see community made layouts for the Steam controller in there but nothing beyond that.

When I attempted to set up my own control scheme for XB I couldn't get it to work. Has anyone else tried this? Am I doing it wrong?

Really if this could finally be blessed with a patch for native controller support that would be :reimpressed:.

you're better off using your keyboard
Isaac(the original at least) was never meant for consoles or controllers

You need to get a program such as JoyToKey (the one I use) that can convert gamepad button presses to keyboard key presses to play the game. Setting it up is pretty simple.

Use joy to key, but I find it very difficult to click on the reply button.

I have my left stick as walking direction, right stick as shooting direction. You can choose any one between ABXY for dropping a bomb/using item/using card, depending on what you like.

I didn't do that question very well.
f joy2key. thx for answers.

original question is, has anyone utilized XB or PS controllers through the Steam controller interface,.. Also I am a strictly KB/M player that more recently might want to play Isaac1 similar to Zelda1.

so strictly utilizing Steam for controller magic?
All the 'strictly' words, unintentional.

You can get the main SWF from Isaac and pack it into a projector so the Steam Overlay can work in-game. When the Overlay is working, you can use controller bindings (on Steam) if you're using a Steam Controller or the Steam Beta.

If you have Wrath of the Lamb, you can also try SpiderMod, which adds XInput support with vibration. (edit: I do NOT recommend SpiderMod, it slows down your game to a crawl and its' controller functionality is not good.)

And, if for some crazy reason you're not doing any of that, your only hope is JoyToKey or XPadder or FreePIE.

Is there other programs than JoyToKey to play this game with Xbox 360 controller? JoyToKey worked but I had to uninstall it because that program interrupted many other games I tried to play with Xbox 360 controller and I always had to force close it with Task Manager.
