Post Game Questions
I'm almost to the plus disk content so I was curious about what some peoples thoughts on the best way to approach post game. During the main game I would generally freely swap different characters in and out depending on the zone/boss I was fighting. Upgrading chars stats during the regular game was never really a problem as the cost never got too outrageous.

I'm starting to feel the pinch with my money/resources though so is it generally just a better idea to solely focus on 12 core characters and forego the rest? If this is the case are there any chars in particular that will make the post game a smoother ride? Right now I feel like Reimu, Meiling, Hina, Kanako are solid choices as they either play some form of critical support or are just bulky damage dealers. Just wondering if there are some other chars that are better naturally better picks to dump all my resources into.

I only recently started the post-game so my words don't hold much value, but I don't think you need to focus on a specific team. There is some spots where you can easily farm exp and moneys. And worse case scenario, you can always do a full reset of a character you're not using to get the ressources back (I had about 10-12 tomes of reincarnations by the end of the main game)

beware of a certain "uberboss" on floor 29 when you fight them you will see why oh btw prepare for a surprise from the same boss oh and the final final true final boss? here's a quote from one of my fav online games that sums it up "prepare thy self for oblivion" i have very rarely seen bosses this difficult in over 15 years of gaming it was beyond final fantasy's hardest bosses these guys (lot2's ultimate would stomp all of ff's bosses with no sweat) i wish you luck when you do eventually get to them trust me you will need serious skill and luck for them to get beaten sorry for long message i simply can't understate the challenge you are in for when you get to them btw good job for almost making it to post-game stage

Tomes of Resurrection are only 5 Infinity Gems each. They're not a limited resource, so you can keep refining your party over time. The post-game will keep throwing curve balls at you, so experimentation is still the best way to come up with a group that works best. Naturally, if you're settling on a limited roster, the flexibility of their kit becomes really important.

But whatever roster you settle on, post-game is all about tweaking and improving what you have. For example, TP pool is pretty much forgettable in the main game, but it becomes really important when you're looking to start streaking the Infinity Corridor for stardust. I'm not saying low-TP characters aren't good - far from it - but you'll have to fix up their weaknesses in order to do well at certain things.

The farther you get, the less viable it is to invest into every character simultaneously due to permanent stat items + infinitely scaling library costs. That's when you start using Tomes of Reincarnation when swapping team members. However, I'd say you're still at a point where it's totally fine to swap around freely. Just farm in 20F Depths or, if you want a cheesier strat, run Aya + Reisen + Yuyuko with Dark Determination for an absurdly high Death rate to instakill things on 21F. Library levels around 150-200 can be farmed in like 5-10 minutes per character this way and that's more than enough to clear postgame (and break into plus disc).

As far as characters go, I find that most of them have a pretty solid use case. It's less about individual characters and more about having the appropriate roles and tools in your team covered. You can keep your core setup but you can and should still situationally swap in characters based on the situation as needed.

If I had to name a few standouts...
Reimu - paralyze, heals, defense buffs, and situationally great damage
Rumia - 100% defense ignore, team heal
Kaguya - 90% defense ignore with great element coverage (esp. with Sorcerer)
Aya - her timebar manipulation is unrivaled + you always get to go first
Meiling - fast, never dies, Mountain Breaker is OP, heal + status clear
Satori - her value depends entirely on your comp/strategy but she can enable some crazy plays
Yuugi - beefy, big damage, and Paralyze + Heavy + Silence in one 3 MP skill is insane
Eirin - can overheal for outrageous amounts with Healer subclass
Reisen - great at debuffing and even better at enabling other debuffers
Ran - the only character that can buff your backline
Tenshi - unkillable and her ability to Dispel is crazy useful against lots of bosses
Yukari - lots of defensive utility + setting everyone else's timebar to 10000 can win fights
Byakuren - does a bit of everything
Eiki - 100% defense ignore, packs every debuff/ailment in the game (great for testing resistances too)
→ too many enemies have stupidly high defense so being able to ignore it is important. honorable mention to Utsuho, who I didn't use enough to comment on

Only naming characters from the main game to avoid spoilers. Note that this isn't comprehensive and I don't actually use all of these characters. These are just a few that either cover a lot of roles or fill a powerful niche. You'll still need to fill in the basics like boss killers (e.g. Nitori, Flandre, Marisa), buffers (e.g. Keine, Rinnosuke, Sanae, Ran), etc... and the ideal characters depend on the rest of your team.

While you can easily stick to 12 characters, at some point you might want to experiment with different units as they will fullfill certain roles better the more you progress the game or even change their role e.g. from tank to offense. You might find characters you didn't really like or use during the main game to be really powerful later on, and vice versa.

Started going into the plus disc content and I'm happy the game exponentially increased the amount of money from random encounters in the basement areas. Investing and getting new chars up to par is nowhere near as grindy as it was when doing the regular post game.
