DLC Pricing
If you made the pricing more reasonable, you would likely quadruple the sales, and have a vast online community. Something to consider.

When i ask why black market is expensive :

And this is valid but not the topic of the thread.

There are way more DLCs than the Black Market.

And yeah, the DLC are not cheap. I am in the lucky position to have 4 friends who regulary play Dominion together. And I have bougth some of the DLCs in the earlier versionson (like browser based versions).
So, at first, when this has come to steam I also got some DLCs for free.
And for the rest, ny friends and me pooled together, so I could buy all other DLCs (because I am the guy who is online the most), so in my group it wasnt so expensive (DLC-costs divided by 5)

But this is also not the topic of this thread :D .

[edit]
The reason for my long text is, that only ONE player has to have the DLCs. The others have not to pay a penny for those DLCs.
So if I would play with either of you two, you only need the base game for full game experience ;)

I tell every developer the same thing - if you don't put your stuff on sale, I don't buy it. I never buy anything not on sale. And I never will. Many people follow the same principle. I subscribe to gamepass every month and I have tons of other games to play. Not saying the product isn't nice, and also not saying the developers aren't working hard, but it lacks people to play with, and there's no competitive seen. The AI is pretty easy to beat, and with certain expansions, it can be beaten 100.00% every time on hard.

Then I hope, your salaries are set to sale also.

Be happy with 50% to 80% less income ;)

thats true. the game never can become big as long as the dlcs are that much expensive. but its like almost every card game. you have to pay to even play. and i think its gonna be worse in the future. remember artifact the dota card game. genius concept but you only could play rank if you pay for it. i think the devs are bad. and just wait for another dominon version. it also was playable on web long before this releases. the next dev will make a good version of dominion, just wait.

Not sure if you've noticed but the prices of many of the Dominion DLCs have actually been rising. For example, for "Menagerie," the first price increase was on 25th April, 2022; the second one on 14th January, 2023. For "Hinterlands," there was just one price increase - on 14th January, 2023. And for "Intrigue" there were two - on 25th April, 2022 and on 14th January, 2023. The prices of many of the other DLC's have also been increased. So, I wouldn't expect discounts, and if there are ever some, they will be offset by the previous price rises... :i_laugh:

You can look at the history of the prices here: https://steamdb.info/

As it is I think I've purchased one expansion here and a couple on android (that I can use here thanks to the expansion sharing, they just don't show up as owned on steam), but as the OP said, I'd be likely to get a lot more if they went on sale.

Sadly, my android tablet that I usually use for Dominion is old and the battery is almost dead, so I'm waiting for the iOS release before I invest more into the game (I pretty much play exclusively "pass and play" on tablet)... but that's another topic altogether.

Rather than a "sale" though, I think a better solution would be to offer some thematic bundles that maybe give you something like three expansions for the price or two or something like that, or a nice discount on an everything bundle.

I really don't think they're that expensive to be fair. You can play a different one each week for free as well as the base game. The online DLC's are significantly cheaper than if you were to go and buy the physical expansions of Dominion (which many people do). You can also join the online game with others who have expansions you don't own. They're really quite reasonable. I agree that the odd sale would be nice though.

Do any of you play the table top game where the expansions cost $30-40 each? I LOVE the fact that I can play all of the expansions in here for a fraction of the cost of trying to buy them all in real life! I don't think the digital version of this game was created for casual game play - that's why none of the add-ons cost a dollah-two-ninety-nine.

It's not wise to compare the price of an online game with its "paper" equivalent. The paper game is far more expensive but you own real objects made of plastic/cardboard, etc and you can resell them. With an online game like this one on Steam it's basically just pixels and you can't even resell the game here.

However, it's definitely a lot cheaper than traditional collectable games such as MTG Arena or Hearthstone. No random booster nonsense. You pay for an expansion, and you get the entire thing--all the cards. You don't have to go through the hell of booster opening, hoping to get the right cards. That's a big upside.

Yes, because the income of a company is exactly the same as the income of a physical person.
Sure! Why not!

Beyond pricing, there is something that no one is touching here.
How many expansions is this "Early access game" is gonna release before getting out of early access and having some semplance of resposibility towards its customers?

The game has atrocious AI, its UI is something that a new media graduate would find appaling and the only thing this clunky app cares about is showing off the many DLCs that you don't have.

In the mean time, Wingspan, Tokaido and other board games really innovate with their presentation in digital.

I guess "I should get them if I don't like dominion".

The old guard of board game companies have a long history of considering their clients a naive niche with significant disposable income.

I too have been holding off on buying any DLC until it goes on sale. Like, properly on sale. 30% or more. I don't have a ton of income to spend on games and DLC but I love Dominion and would happily pay if they were cheaper. For now all the ones I have were either gifts or I received from having them in the older Dominion games.

I always try to drop a few dollars on a title I try for more than just a few hours, but I'm in agreement here as the only reason I've got two expansion sets purchased is because I had some dollars sitting in both my Steam wallet and Paypal.

Otherwise, digital content for a title in early access a year + into development, at the current asking prices, uhm... meh. Spring is here and so are the bills for projects and repairs that need doing.
