dungeon runner = too difficult
Hi, I'm not a noobish gamer but 90% of the time I can't even get past the third dungeon in mode dungeon runner. With certain skills it becomes a lot easier but with melee + lack of lifesteal it is almost impossible.

It completely ruins the game experience if you know it is hardcore (you lose all on death) but the difficulty is too high... you can't even get to the point where you can have a build (lvl 5+) because you simply die before then.

Please adjust difficulty.

The third dungeon is like 3 times more difficult than the second one for some random reason...

I dont see any difference as in quest mode, have no problem finishing dungeons.
But would like to point out that the portal to next dungeon is sitting right on top of the boss chest. Accidently entering the portal while picking up loot.

keep trying though, you can say all you want but this time I exploited the combat system to get to the fourth dungeon (by firing arrows to the mage boss and run off + health regen before going back in). I had put all my points into health only to have an archer do 40% dmg to me with one arrow (while you are supposed to also fight of a mage that does similar damage). If you don't want people leaving your game out of frustration, best to address this because i'm slowely getting to the point of uninstalling/refunding purely because of bad balancing of the game making it unplayable (through this mode at least). But knowing the state of this mode, it doesn't quite motivate me to even start the campaign.

The good news: This is early access, and this dev seems particularly active in these discussions, appreciative of the support, and eager to address the concerns of the players.

The bad news: As a procedural rogue-lite action RPG, it's probably not meant to ultimately be easy, and when it does reach its final form, I wouldn't expect it to be any easier than it is now... surely more "balanced", but again... it's early access. There's still a lot to be done.

My advice: Try the campaign mode (which by the way also isn't done) anyway, for now. You'll probably find it easier, and it still lets you jump into random dungeons/quests with modifiers at any time, with adjustable difficulty.

Hmm, I just bought the game and have been doing the Campaign on medium difficulties without dying yet. I've got ~20 hours in now or something and have yet to experience this. For the mages, when they start firing off their fire bolts, make sure to be strafing them clockwise or counterclockwise around them. After they are done with those they will try to cast something under you that explodes, during this time try to get to them and spam-attack until they are dead. If they manage to teleport away, approach them like before but be ready to strafe around them when they do their firebolts again.

Obviously I'm playing a melee character.

Dungeon runner is not campaign. I like the part where you just get in and start playing... But for me it is impossible to get past lvl 6. Again died at lvl 5 because the archer guy does the spin attack which immobilizes you and then they can hit you once more fully killling you off. In other words if you get hit by the spinning attack you are dead.

in the first dungeon, I didn't get a bow... Had to fight off as lvl 1 a mage boss... nothing I could do but die. (unless I would have used all my potions) but since alchemy doesn't seem to work in dungeon runner... that would ruin the run already right there

You can counter it by dodge roling. He always does that attack when you get close. So when you see his bow dissapear you can be sure first thing he will do is that attack.

You can use alchemy tables. After every 5 dungeons you get a shop space with alchemy table and mercenary shop.

I challange anyone to record a gameplay video of them reaching lvl 8 in dungeon runner mode. Because to me it sounds like everyone comes into this topic acting like it is not that hard without themself having reach lvl 8 in dungeon runner mode (make sure it is unedited and that it is clearly dungeon runner mode).

Most of the time I die myself at lvl 5-6.

I will believe it when I see it.

I just got to lvl 7... And it seems they patched it a bit? I did way more damage than usual so it was somewhat easier in the sence that the enemies (including bosses) would die faster but the issue remained that I died by the boss of the fourth dungeon at lvl 7 because the mage boss just nuked me down in 2 seconds.

Since I have the feeling they increased the damage now (added weapon damage on items), I will try again later this week but if I end up dieing again at lvl 7 or below, that will be it for me. I spend 16 hours in dungeon runner only to get to lvl 7. If i'm the only one to think the game is poorly balanced, it will just be one (hopefully temporarily) negative review. Seeing similar feedback in other topics now though.

I'll admit when I first saw this thread I scoffed and resisted the urge to post 'git gud' then I looked at the code and saw after you get level 5 the difficulty jumps from medium to hard. "Ok, big deal, how hard can it be" so I jumped in a hard level and proceeded to get obliterated by the boss.

"maybe they have a point" :)

Next patch the dungeon runner scaling reduced, difficulty jumps in levels of 10
and boss magic and physical damage scaling reduced slightly.
