Blue Byte, known for Games like THE SETTLERS and BATTLE ISLE created a Game called DIE TOTAL VERRÜCKTE RALLYE (Translated „The total crazy Race“).
This Game was like a Tabletop Game. Up to 8 Players are challenged to a Race all over Europe. The Goal: To become the Richest.
A totally Addicting Game with much fun for the whole Family or Friends, or just alone against the PC.
Now in 2020 the Developers The Unknown Machine created an inofficial Remake of this Game Pearl.

Welcome to THE MONEYMAKERS RALLYE.

As said before it is like a Tabletop Game. You have a Board, Dice and Pawns.
The Board is Europe. Choose the Number of Players, your Car, choose the Number of Stages (From 1 up to 200) and then Roll the Dice to make your first Round. Each Stage the Programm will set a Target Town somewhere in Europe and the First who reaches that City gets the Money Price.
Winner is the Player with the Most Money after the last Stage.
That sounds simple but isn`t. Winning a Stage is not the only Way to get Money.

At first you have an Income each Round. Use your Money to buy, like in MONOPOLY, Property who are raising your Income. But be carefull, it is also easy to loose your Money. While moving your Car over the Board you will be confront with lucky or unlucky Random Events .
And if this is not enough, a special AI Player will appear after you reached the first Town. He is no Racer, no, he is there to victimize the Racers, like slowing them or stealing your hard earned Money. Don`t worry, there are ways to get rid of him. There are also Cards to help you and you can use even Public Transports like Trains.

The Gameplay is really easy. The Developer did a very good Job with this. You can play with Pad or like me with Mouse and Keyboard. Worked perfectly without any Kind of Problems. Absolutly smooth and fluid.

The Graphics and sounds are very nice done. Rarely i saw so much Love into the Details. When you choose your Car you can get Cars like the DeLorean, the A-TEAM Van or the Optimus Prime Truck. The Europe Board itself has many nice things to find like animated Animals. And all wonderfull coloured, perfect for a Board Game.

The Game is very easy to learn and fun to master.
The Developer transfers this Classic Pearl perfectly into the Modern Age. Well Done.

At the beginning of the game you choose the maximum number of stages that should be included in the game round. Then you choose one of 8 characters and decide how many opponents should take part in the round. A random rotation follows from which country the start is from. After the goal has been announced, you will be shown how many moves you need to get there. The game begins with rolling the dice.

There are 4 different fields on the playing field:

The blue fields bring you money. You should prefer to use these to win money that you can later exchange for real estate. The money win is determined randomly.

The red fields cost you money. Again, the amount is chosen at random. So avoid these.

The yellow fields bring you event cards. Up to 8 cards can be carried at the same time. These let you, for example, move forward 3 spaces, throw 4 dice or paralyze your opponents.

The purple fields let you buy or sell event cards. Use the field if you are looking for a specific map or want to reduce your inventory.

The game again briefly summarized:

You take part in a rapid hunt across Europe. Up to 8 players start in this race. Whoever reaches a destination city first gets a lot of cream. Only the one who has the biggest account in the end wins this crazy rally. The game is most fun with your friends! It also kind of reminds of Monopoly.

Zu Beginn des Spiels wählst du die Maximal Anzahl der Etappen aus, die es geben soll in der Spielrunde. Anschließend wählst du einen von 8 Charakter aus und entscheidest wie viel Gegner an der Runde teilnehmen sollen. Es folgt eine Zufallsrotation von welchem Land aus gestartet wird. Nachdem das Ziel bekannt gegeben wurde, wird dir angezeigt wie viele Züge du bis dahin brauchst. Das Spiel beginnt mit dem würfeln.

Auf dem Spielfeld gibt es 4 verschiedene Felder:

Die blauen Felder bringen dir Geld ein. Du sollten bevorzugt auf diese fahren um Geld zu gewinnen, das du diese später für Immobilien eintauschen kannst. Der Geldgewinn wird dabei zufällig bestimmt.

Die roten Felder kosten dich Geld. Auch hier wird der Betrag zufällig gewählt. Also meide diese.

Die gelben Felder bringen dir Ereigniskarten ein. Es können bis zu 8 Karten gleichzeitig getragen werden. Diese lassen dich zum Beispiel 3 Felder vorrücken, mit 4 Würfeln werfen oder die Gegner lahm legen.

Die lilafarbenen Felder lassen dich Ereigniskarten kaufen oder verkaufen. Benutze das Feld wenn du eine bestimmte Karte suchst oder dein Inventar verkleinern möchtest.

Das Spiel nochmals kurz zusammen gefasst:

Du nimmst an einer rasanten Jagd durch ganz Europa teil. Bis zu 8 Spieler gehen bei diesem Rennen an den Start. Wer zuerst eine Zielstadt erreicht, sahnt kräftig ab. Nur der, der am Ende das dickste Konto hat, gewinnt diese total verrückte Rally. Gemeinsam mit deinen Freunden macht das Spiel am meisten Spaß! Es erinnert auch irgendwie an Monopoly.

As someone who grew up with "dr. drago's madcap chase" (or rather "Die total verrückte Rallye" as I got to know it) I love seeing this on Steam with an online Multiplayer.

It is a good game and it might be due to nostalgic feelings, but still there are some things I am missing dearly from the 1995 Blue Byte version of the game and other minor things that bug me about the remake to a certain degree. Nevertheless everyone who loved the old Game can be happy there's a new one with a decent overhaul for a fair price.


Stuff that I miss:
- The cute little dolphins jumping out of the water. They always made my day a little brighter.
- The wacky and funny announcer who led the players through the Game and made comments to the statistics and new Goals
- The people. This includes the Player/AI Characters aswell as the (noninteractive) NPCs all around the map. I can't remember to have seen a single human in 4 hours of gameplay so far. Makes the Map feel pretty empty and abandoned for me
- Some Cards, i.e. "Gamble" was really fun
- The info markers were another fun little detail that I've missed in the new one.


Stuff that bugs me/I don't really get:
- The Roundlimit goes from 1 to 80 (the original was from 3 to 300) - and I love long games. Why can't I play 300 Rounds with 7 AIs anymore, when it was possible 25 years ago? :(
- There are 8 Cars to choose from, but only 6 Players can play Again, why can't I play against 7 AIs when it's been possible 25 years ago?
- The Dice is 12-sided. This makes the Rounds faster shortening my desired long games even further, the original was 6 sided
- The 12 sided Die also makes the 1-6 fields cards worth less.
- The Home Stretch mechanics are a quirky idea but make the 1-6 fields cards worth even less.This should be optional like the airports, harbours, trains and the lottery
- The Casino fields are a decent new addition and while I don't directly dislike them I'd love them to be optional aswell
- The Upgrade fields: see above.
- The Dice animation is quite long sometimes playing against 5 AI here and I'd like to see a way to fast forward in a better way when playing against AI. Only the AIs movements on the map and the Casino games can be FF as far as I can tell
- At the same time the AI skips over texts automatically after a while, which can be annoying, when you couldn't finish reading what it said in time. Especially when new to the game it's frustrating to not know what just happened
- The colour coding is different from the original, which I don't understand. Drawing-cards-fields have been yellow and now they're blue.
- While I'd like to enjoy the new and graphically overhauled map when "looking around" the map turns white/grey Let me enjoy the work of visual details you put into the game :(
- the colours are too bright for me personally, a darker, softer green and deep blue for the land and ocean respectively I would have liked better (like the original) - similar for the UI and the details on the map.



I'd love to see a "classic" mode where the rules are the same as in the original. (or even better customizability, so you can set it up yourself)


And while I certainly forgot to mention something miniscule which irritated my nostalgic soul, I can defintely say the this buy hasn't been wasted money for me and I can recommend it to others. :)


P.S.: As this has been the launchday I've got hope some of these things could get fixed.
Edit: Great to see developers respond to feedback, especially these days - and this promptly too :)

It's Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase in all but name, updated for a more modern era. I'm a huge fan of the original (I own the lovely big box version of it) and always wanted it to be remade or redone in some form because any aficionado of the Madcap Chase knows what a HUGE pain it is to get working properly outside of Windows 95/98!

Thumbs Up:
- Faithfully recreated gameplay (you will still anger your friends over this!)
- New features such as more random events, new cards and quality of life improvements
- Ability to toggle on and off different features (you can even disable that pesky Sir Clepton!)
- Has online multiplayer, plus local which also works wonderfully with Remote Play

Thumbs Down -
- There are no player characters like in the original, which is a shame because I liked the personality they brought into the mix.
- Likewise, instead of Dr. Drago and that snickering evil laugh, you get Sir Clepton who you never see. His laugh also just isn't comparable.
- No announcer either. =( I miss his stiff upper lip accent.
- Would have liked to see the game world expanded across the entire globe rather than being restricted to Europe, though it is keeping true with the original.
- Brussels is still ALWAYS the final destination, which always annoyed me in Dr. Drago.

In short, this is the Dr. Drago remake you've been waiting for, and I think the good far, far outweighs the few minor gripes in my humble opinion. Would love to see mod support so that one day some talented hero could bring the Dr. Drago gang back to their rightful place. =) Much thanks to the developer for making this classic happen!

It is simple. Once upon a time, there was an old board game called “Die Total Verrueckte Rallye” or “Dr Dragos Madcap chase”, for the PC, and it was pretty much adored by numerous players.

Now The Moneymakers Rallye is almost exactly this game from back then, but it is:

• 100 x more user-friendly
  
• Much Bigger
  
• Much more beautiful (graphics, Design, Interface)
  
• Tons of in game options
  
• Loads of options to adjusting gameplay, too
  
• Insanely fun with some friends
  
• But also fun only with computer enemies
  
• Not broken!!! (Actually well balances, so even the last one can often still win)

It is one of those “remakes” which does everything correct.

Except - I, personally, would have wished for pixel art graphics.

This game is not for everybody, but if you enjoy board games, a nice portion of luck, monopoly elements, racing games, dice rolls, and how to break your friends, you actually have to buy this underrated game.

Did I mention that ONE person made this game alone in around four years?

Impressive!

If you are looking for a multiplayer board game, to play with friends, look no further!

My better half was so excited that this game got a remake that I decided to buy it too. And I haven't regretted that.

A race across Europe, to various well-known cities with a mixture of board game, Mario Party and Monopoly. Perfect for having fun with friends! The game is definitely taken out more often. Recommendable only!

Meine bessere Hälfte war so Aufgeregt, dass dieses Game ein Remake bekommen hat, dass ich mich kurzerhand entschlossen habe, es auch zu kaufen. Und das habe ich nicht bereut.

Ein Rennen quer durch Europa, zu verschiedenen bekannten Städten mit einer Mischung aus Brettspiel, Mario Party und Monopoly. Perfekt um mit Freunden Spass zu haben! Das Game wird auf jeden Fall öfters hervor genommen. Nur zum Empfehlen!

If I would not know already "Billion Road" I would have reviewed this game with a like.

But Billion Road, though playing in Japan rather than Europe, is much more fun especially when playing with many players over several sessions. Fun graphics, cool events, more variety in the gameplay.

"The Moneymakers Rallye" is more slow paced, has a monotonous boring "jingle" (to circumvent the term "music" in this case), and it has bugs (e.g. the AI ignoring the Travel Ban card, found this after playing just over 25 minutes into the game).

The built in Bug Report (F1 key) itself is buggy, because the game continues and keystrokes are executed in the game. If you pause the game to avoid this, the menu appears over the bug report form, making it unusable.

To me as an IT professional, this again shows the importance of thorough and proper testing and especially interviewing the target audience (you!) about how the user interface should behave. UX is no magic...

tl; dr: buy Billion Road instead.

This IS Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase! So much fun to play with friends (friends not included)! Same jolly music, many ways to sabotage your friends (friends sold seperatly). Missing the dastardly look from Drago, but the graphics are way better, Loving it!

Also, was soll Ich sagen.
Vor 25 Jahren wurde ein Spiel Namens: 'Die total verrückte Rallye' von BlueByte (dem Entwickler hinter Die Siedler) veröffentlicht.
Man musste quer durch Europa mit witzigen Gestalten und wurde auch von einem Bösewicht verfolgt.
Und wer das meiste Geld machte, gewann diese verrückte Rallye.

Und genau diesen Geist, diese Liebe zum Detail und auch das gleiche Gameplay finden wir 25 Jahre später in 'The MoneyMaker Rallye' wieder.
Ich habe Jahrelang gehofft wieder dieses Spielen spielen zu dürfen, und jetzt kann ich es, sogar im Online-Multiplayer.
Alle die Brettspiele wie MarioParty lieben und natürlich auch alle Original Fans von 'DTVR' sollten diesem Spiel eine Chance geben und dann werden sie es lieben!

25 years ago a game called 'Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase' was published by BlueByte (the developer behind The Settlers).
You had to cross Europe with funny characters and you were also followed by a villain.
And whoever made the most money won this crazy rally.

And it is exactly this spirit, this attention to detail and also the same gameplay that we find again 25 years later in 'The MoneyMaker Rallye'.
I've hoped to play this game again for so many years, and now I can, even in online multiplayer.
Everyone who loves board games like MarioParty and of course all original fans of 'Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase' should give this game a chance and then they will love it!

Better with friends. Probably.
