Getting "E_INVALIDARG" error
I'm getting the following error when trying to launch the game (both from within Steam and from the executable):

DirectX Error
"The call 'CreateDevice' returned error 'E_INVALIDARG: An invalid parameter was passed to the returning function'"

Has anybody else run into this, or has any idea as to what could be causing it?

I installed the game and was getting the error, then tried restarting my laptop as well as re-downloading Monaco, but so far nothing has worked.

Thanks.

I have the exact same problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

Still haven't managed to fix it. Most of the info that comes up when searching for it is developer info, and next to useless without any context.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Have you guys tried launching from the .exe?

FIXED [...or at least, found a workaround]!

Yes, tried launching directly from the .exe to no avail.

I ran this directly from the executable with Windows 7 compatibility settings and it ran fine. After saving the compatibility settings I ran it from Steam and everything runs smoothly.

Steps:
1. Open Monaco.exe file location
2. Right-click and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
3. Walk through compatibility setup and find one that works for you (Win 7 worked for me)

Hope that helps for anyone else having this issue.

Cheers.

Sometimes installing these redists solves the issue you're having:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
