Trains in the tutorial less than worthless
Per the title, the trains you have to use in the tutorial just...suck. They suck so bad. Genuinely they basically bankrupt you, they cost a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to buy, a ton to run... and then they barely carry 100 wood to the sawmill? And then go sit in the depot for a year doing nothing, burning away money? Then the sawmill runs out of wood because none of the trains I bought are servicing it, and WHY can only two be on a rail line? Genuinely awful design, they need to be changed and fixed

I have not had an issue with the trains. Are you setting an adequate number of logs for them to move when creating the line?

I set them to carry 1500 per quarter and all three locomotives I had on the line carried a total of 100 per trip and then just, sat in the depot.

This was my problem, I had it set to the default valuie. Soon as I increased the number of logs per year, the amount carried shot up per train and the backlog/storage issues were solved.

Excellent.

I believe the biggest problem with this game is the lack of an option to activate:
"Wait until fully loaded."
In this case, both trains and trucks would simply wait as long as needed.

It’s possible that such feature existed before, as when opening the Lines overview, we don’t see the numbers indicating how much each line will transport.

We understand the need for this option and will implement this during EA as one of many QOL features. You might argue that this is something that should be available already, and we don’t disagree.
We just kindly ask you for a bit more time to implement it properly.

In the mean time, if you want to force your routes to only carry full capacity, as long as it is available in storage on pick-up, set your route to only be active during one season (toggle the season icon in the top half of the Timetable Widow) and then set the amount to be transported to the amount one train can carry or as a multiple of that,
This way the route will send a train, or multiple trains, and pick up as much as it can carry, as long as there is goods in the pick-up location’s storage.

Hope this helps you to keep the frustration a bit lower until the QOL features arrive.

I must also add that in the 2nd szenario i have also come accross issues with trains.
I import 500 Textiles from the World harbour every 3 months (also here would be an "alter Contract" button VERY helpful instead of cancelling and setting up a new contract). Then i ordered my Train (800) capacity to load 1000 to the logistic centre i build. But somehow it only took 250 and the Harbour storage filled up. Then i said transport 3000 and it worked. To a lesser extend the issues i have also with the Tricks but that doesn´t really has so much impact as there a re many compared to 1 train.

Just to make sure, if you setup a line and leave the selection for seasons as it is, so all seasons selected, and set the transport amount to 1.000 that would mean that the line will transport the 1.000 units spread across all seasons, so 250 per season/quarter.
If you want the line to transport 500 per quarter, you need to set the line to 2.000 capacity so it will try to ship 500 each quarter for a total of 2.000 over one year.

That may very well be the case. I played on and it works. But there are some things i want to add where i would like a better overview. For example Factories produce cycle is 1 month? Cotton grows only 2 Times a year. This you can decipher in your head. But in general it would be good to know what is "potentially" produced and used in 1 month especially if later production chains differ in the future. Or if we have to use 2 or more produktion chains in a row with different input/output like the clothing 2 textiles to 1 clothing later theres maybe somthing like 3 to 2. And if you put that in a more complex chain we will either create a mod or do our own spreadsheets :winter2019coolyul: .
