clarification on unlocking guns in the compound

do i need to get numbers of stars to unlock guns or just get the trophy scores? i feel like sometimes i unlock guns/mags and sometimes i dont arbitrarily.

Trophy is enough for unlocks but at the moment there seems to be something wonky with unlocks, i got some of the gold guns unlocked despite still missing 1-2 challenges.

In case you are talking about "normal" unlocks the digital displays over the scoreboard tells you how many completed challenges you need for the next unlock. Left is what you completed, right is what you need for the next one.

Help i spent a lot of time only thing that i got was golden mags no golden guns i have 14 stars ob s&w model10 same on colt m1911 and beretta is this normal or what ? Maybe i need some achievement? Like true receiver ? ? I need a flashlight ? Heeeeeeeeeeelp

There's no point in worrying about it. You can't get gold weapons in the main game by fair means.
It's just some pretty boring Compound skins that don't make any sense.
