You can't stop it, only way to combat it is to clear your weapon, and put it in a state where it can't be fired.

When you hear one of the threats echo tapes, unload your weapon.

Ah okay. Going forward probably going to unload before I pick up tapes. Snagged my fifth only for it to be a threat.
Good to know you can unload before it ends though.

Mashing tab might make the first shot miss, but there's no stopping the next one. Garage is off limits...:steamsad:

Oh. To me I grabbed the tape then as I listened, there is a somewhat of an evil laughter and the next thing I know is that my gun starts to point towards me and then killed me so I was wondering if I can counter during my gun struggles pointing towards me. Well looks like I have to unload my gun every time after clearing room then.

I just got the threat echo tapes again. *sigh* Thank god I unloaded my weapon as a precaution every time I see the tape I am about to pick up. But still looking at my own gun pointing towards me while I am currently wielding is quite unsettling to the point I almost pee my pants.

The threat tapes seem to always be suicide notes. You can use this to tell if you need to unload your weapon before it starts moving.

But then how would I know what type of tapes I am about to pick up? Do I need to hear it's audio or something? Edited: Oh. I need to unload quick then if picked up. but maybe it depends on tape recording duration so I just unload my weapon before picking it up as I don't know if the effect will occur after the tape ends or not as the first one I was wearing headphones, listening to music so I barely heard the recording while the second occur after recording so I basically confused if I can even empty my weapon before it starts.

I've just been unloading once I hear what kind of tape it is. It's pretty obvious in the first sentence based on the content and the way the actor speaks. I can easily unload my gun before the tape's even ended, with only 20 or so hours of experience in the first game.

The voice and music make it pretty clear, yeah. If you have those turned down, disabled, or don't have audio then you probably aren't going to be able to tell as easily.

I think there might be a text prompt, but I am not entirely sure?

You can unload the firearm while it's sneaking up on you. Don't have to do it before that. Of course, you have to be VERY good at doing it fast, or you'll be at risk. Also would have to be nowhere near any enemies.

There's also a setting to disable threat echos entirely if you prefer.

I wished there is subtitles so I will know because my audio is turned down because right now is currently night time anyway so everyone has fallen asleep

That is pretty cool that you can disable threat echos but I want to have every feature on right now so I just kept it on because I want to know it's weakness so I can prevent my death from happening. I am basically attempt to explore on how to defeat every enemies with ease but when I start playing this game, I wasn't expecting a tape that can cause a player to kill themselves.
